Is It Possible To Configure The Motorola NVG510 (AT&T) To Work With The Motorola SB6121 On Cox?

Hi, can I please get a little help from all you networking gurus out there?

So I'm currently with Cox right now, using the Motorola SB6121 (cable modem), but I still have a Motorola NVG510 (an AT&T DSL gateway). I was wondering if it's possible to hook up the two, using the NVG510 as a standalone router? If it's possible, how complicated is the setup? I tried calling tech support, but they weren't of much help since the router isn't one of theirs. All constructive responses will be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you will be able to, but if you where configuring NAT would be a pain... You are better off spending the $30 on a real router either way.

Might be possible - plug it in & see what happens. I don't think NATting would be an issue since the cable modem is just straight IP.

The only thing that could trip you up is if the DSL gateway requires the DSL port to act as the data input - if that's the case you'll be DOA.

But yeah, if it doesn't work right away I'd spend the money on a new router.

I connected everything and it didn't work as is. I tried to configure the broadband connection portion of the router, then it started asking me to input technical settings (starting with MTU). I had no idea what the settings should be and I was just hoping that it'd be simpler than that (ie. a series of dropdown menus or somethingSmilie. It's just that the DSL gateway was working really well for me signal wise and I was hoping to be able to keep using it. I have a couple routers stored away and I guess I'll just whip those out. Anyway, thanks for your responses. I repped you both.
