ade offer listed here
Best way to find out if your console is eligible is to just bring it in. Worst thing they can say is no and you lose out on the time and effort.
For those that haven't done a trade in at Best Buy,
They are usually done at the customer service desk. Most employees back there are not even trained for console trades ins. So I'm willing to bet they don't even know how to check for the warranty seal on certain consoles. They also won't be able to test if its fully functional unless they have it hooked up to a TV so take that for what its worth.
Please keep in mind that an ID is required and they do take down all the information on it during the trade process. Depending on your store or area, they will also take a fingerprint or a photo of you. YMMV
Do not be discouraged if they tell that your system has a lower value than $100. There should be a promotion applied during the trade process to boost it up to $100 if you have an eligible system. Not all stores are informed of this promotion so YMMV. This trade offer is very similar to the Target iPad trade offer that was going on several weeks ago.
Apparently there is a checklist that each rep has to go through to process the trade. If someone can get a copy or take a picture of it, I'll gladly post it here. Going by what SDers have reported so far, you will need:
- Console (must power on and be fully functional)
- Hard Drive (depending on model)
- Power Cable/Brick
- AV (Video) Cable
- Controller (Wireless or Wired?)
- Warranty Seal Intact
- Legible Serial Number
*After entering the details of your machine, the BB employee will tell you the value of your machine. This may be less than the $100 minimum. Allow the employee to go through the valuation process in order to receive the $100.
*PS3 ylod temporarily fix, worked for me to get stuff off and dvd out;
XBox 360 RROD temporary fix., worked for me on a couple of boxes - very temp fix, but is a solid first step before opening and correctly fixing the box.

Deal not honored at:
Alexandria, VA - stores due to pawning laws
Tukwila, WA - store checked console to see if it powered on, but did not honor it because they don't believe it is for this PHAT XBOX 360 but instead the slim. We give me call back on Monday since corporate office is closed. BTW I wasted 1 hour there.

Plymouth, MA Unable to trade due to Pawn Shop Laws. Item being traded in must have been purchased at that Best Buy (or any Best Buy - unsure of the exactness of the law).
Tyson's Corner, VA They are doing trades, but are sticklers about what's listed in their system and what you are bringing in. My 360 was originally a 20GB and I upgraded the HDD to 250GB. Perfect working condition, but because the girl couldn't find a 250GB 2011-white model in their list, she said "the original components must be with the Xbox. I don't want to choose another one and get in trouble". She checked with the Geek Squad people and they agreed. Just don't mention anything about the drive, or say it's the original 20GB, they won't check the capacity.
