I probably should check which subscription I had... but in the magazine it said... to submit, 4x6 print only. Maybe it was a bird magazine. Either way... it seems much more complicated than simply emailing a file.
Not sure about submissions, as they contacted me directly. They asked for hi-res jpeg and a write-up on how I took the photo, and offered some cash in return (not enough to buy this lens).
Being featured in a magazine these days is really no big deal. Being featured on a major website or blog is way more beneficial. You'll show up on more google searches, and therefore get more sales and business.
I respectfully disagree. IS is tremendously helpful. Of course you can bump up ISO, but that will degrade the image quality, which is against the whole purpose of this lens. With high MP count, it takes more than 1/focal to get pixel level sharpness.
IS is especially useful for occasional handheld video, unless you have tripod with you all the time.
For most pros or other skilled/sophisticated photographers, IS isn't needed in that focal range. For specialized use - sure it could come in handy. For hobbyists the Tamron is fine and a much better value. For pros - people that earn some or all of their income from photography, the Canon is usually a no-brainer.
A lot of reviews say the Tamron ends up being softer around the edges and sharp in the center, while the Canon is tack sharp corner to corner and better colors. If I could get the Canon for around $1500 (after rebate or whatever), I would pay the extra and go for the Canon
Amazon has it for $2099 now with 4% Amazon reward. If you have Chase/Discover card you may end up getting it for about $1640.
-$ 83.96 4% Amazon Reward
-$75 5% cashback Discover/Chase Freedom
Net cost would be: $1640.04 (Before Tax)
