This new Asus transformer has been on sale and sold out in a lot of places. I think it's a bang for the buck. Amazon is lowering the price to $349 now!

My first post, I hope I did okay Big Grin

EDIT: Here is the link for you to compare this tablet with other tablet of your choice (Thanks cph for the link!):

EDIT 2: nhat would like to share his experience in regards to bios update:
"the newest bios update from Asus fixes a lot of issues? I had a lot of issues like waking up from sleep while charging, etc and since the update to bios it fixed the issue."

This bios update can be done by grabbing the update from the official ASUS website and install it using Winflash app (already installed) from the desktop.

Site for bios:

Edit 3:
Deal is gone everyone, it's back at $379 now. Bummer

Don't know how good it is but there is Accidental Damage coverage for free for 1 year; must register within 60 days of purchase.

Asus Accidental Damage Program
http://notebookcare.asus.com/Cont...P/ADP.aspx

Which retailers are excluded from the ADP program?
These retailers are currently among the companies that do NOT participate in the Accidental Damage Protection: Best Buy USA/CAD (stores and website), OfficeMax (stores and website), Staples USA (stores and website), Costco Wholesale (warehouses only), Office Depot (stores and website), Wal-Mart (stores and website).

To be honest with you, it's not an 'out of this world' deal. Certainly on amazon and other places, ultra books can be found for a 100 dollars cheaper with better specs.

Nevertheless a good post Wink

True you can certainly find an ultrabook with a better spec. However, considering this is a hybrid device, it's a killer deal for someone wanting a tablet/notebook combination. To top it off, the new bay trail quad core Atom really gave it a nice kick in terms of performance compare to the old Atom =).

Here are the reviews that may help to determine whether this bad boy is for you or not

I just got a Venue 8 Pro which is very similar to this but 8" instead and it's great... actually can even do light 3d gaming, plus the quad-core CPU is very fast and handles actual image editing EEK! . For normal desktop stuff it's of course way more than enough horsepower, too. These things pack a huge punch! Not quite to desktop replacement yet but I'd wager for many people a Plugable Docking Station and this would work about as well as a desktop+notebook+tablet combo, all as one device (barring of course anything above lowest settings on lower-demand games).

These tablets based on Bay Trail are probably the first ones I can truly recommend for general users with "real Windows".

Yeah...I'm calling BS on this. Do you know the actual definition of ultrabook [wikipedia.org]? This in no way meets those specifications.

Not to say that this is a bad product. In fact, from my own experience, this is an amazing 2-in-1. However, saying this competes with ultrabooks, or alternatively can be beat by other lower priced full-Windows devices is just ignorant. Ultrabooks, by definition, have oodles more computing power. Lower priced alternatives are likely just tablets or are Chromebooks, which to my mind aren't equivalent devices at all.

Very tempted on this one - daughter is interested in a laptop, but only for homework, light teenage author-to-be type activity, and of course Facebook. No gaming, no heavy graphical needs...so this seems to be right up her alley...
