[4MYREBATE] Rebate Approval Issues - Share your experience

Please note that this thread is not intended for people who have had "lost" rebates. Please use this thread to discuss those issues.

Please post here if you're having issues getting rebates approved, particularly since the beginning of September because that seems to be when the problems started, and how you got it resolved if you did. The more information we can gather, the better we can determine what is going on at 4MyRebate/TigerDirect.

In addition, please post the following information when sharing your story, if you're comfortable doing so (remember, don't get too specific - we all know that TD likes to lurk on SD): - Thanks bb182 for the idea!
  • Do you order a lot from TD?
  • Are/where you an Inner Circle member? Since when?
  • Did any of your TD orders go to "Please Call" status around the time of this order?
  • How many rebates have you submitted to 4MyRebate?
  • Have they failed to acknowledge receipt of any other rebates submitted more than 2 weeks ago?
  • Do you have any rebates stuck in the "documentation received" state for more than 2 weeks?

My personal situation:

11 outstanding rebates, with received dates between 9/13/2013 and 10/25/2013. I have started receiving approval emails for rebates after this period of time. I did call the rebate center about a week ago to ask the status of the outstanding rebates and the CSR commented that I had a lot of rebates, then said everything was in order and they should be approved by 11/15/2013. No such luck. I'm going to be calling again tomorrow to check the status again (11/19/2013).

How many rebates have you submitted to 4MyRebate?
6 in July (all lost, went thru BBB/rebate assurance - got them back)
Pending - 10
3 with Total Defense (pending) with 1 approved
Received-3

-Not at this moment.

It seems like 4MyRebate is slowly approving these "stuck" rebates. All of my recent rebates (with receive dates as late as 11/18) have been approved, and a good number of the unapproved ones have now been approved, with only 5 now outstanding (down from 12).

Also, it now seems like 4MyRebate is making up for lost time. I've never seen them approve and ship cards as fast as they are now with my recent rebates - for example, my TD-11518 rebate was received 11/18, approved 11/22, and shipped 11/27. 9-day turnaround? That has to be a record.

Also had a couple in the past, initially denied because of missing UPC - these were subsequently approved (tape obscures their scanner),

I just received a denial from a flash drive I purchased from BuyDig.com.
4MyRebate says that they did not get my invoice.
I included my order confirmation but that apparently isn't good enough. They say that it needs to have the word "Invoice" on it. BuyDig offers no such document.
I've done more than $3000 in rebates this year and this is my first denial.
What a scam.

Just got the same denial as well from them on a Patriot memory card. Said my Beach Camera receipt did not physically read "Invoice" so they deemed it to be just an order confirmation and denied it. Rep won't budge or fix it. Will complain to Beach Camera which is also Buy Dig.

Update: Beach Camera said they will email me a receipt that reads "Invoice" for me to resubmit. They're apparently aware of this issue and is working with them to resolve it, but I said this has left a bad taste for many people and will deter customers from ever buying stuff from them again involving rebates.

This is a repost of this post.

So I got an email last night from their Rebate Center claiming my UPC bar code for the HP 500GB was missing. I went online to my rebate account and clicked on "view documentation" and lo and behold their scanned PDF showed indeed I had my UPC bar code included as well as MFG P/N and Serial Number and part of the retail cardboard packing itself.

I called a rep this morning and spoke to a lady that verified that I had included the Bar Code but it was not legible due to their poor scanning. She told me that I needed to send them a photocopy of the UPC bar code along with another copy of the rebate (no receipt needed because they already have it). I said I would do that but I asked her why could they just not verifiy the ORIGINAL UPC bar code I sent them since they scanned everything. She said that was a separate departement and that it would be a "long time" to sort out that mess so it would be faster/better that I send a photocopy of the UPC bar code. Luckily, I did photocopy it just in case something like this would happen. I made sure that she made a note in my account that I would be sending a photocopy and not an original since the rebate calls for an original. I also emailed their customer service email and gave them the reps name, ID number, and the jist of our conversation. Hopefully when I do send a copy of the UPC bar code that they wont A) reject it because it is not an original or B) scan it poorly again that it is not legible (again).

Ugh. I haven't done rebates in years and this is the first time I've had trouble with one.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Yeah, another guy with a problem with the Patriot memory card rebate.
Apparently it has to be an invoice, not an order confirmation. Also, purchase must be circled. Also, strangely, there was a second reason for denial: postmark date is past submission deadline. That is BS because the deadline was Oct 1st, and the postmark clearly shows in the downloaded photocopy that it was Sept 20th.
Anyway, I called them, and they said that I am allowed one resubmission, so we'll see if this rebate goes through.

Call if you feel you've waited long enough. But it could just be a delay. For instance, a Total defense rebate i submitted took over 3 weeks to approve. I don't recall doing anything about it, but it did come through. Regardless it made me anxious.

I had two Total Defense rebates they rejected because I used the "Order Details" from the Newegg site instead of the invoice. I have used the order details for hundreds of other rebates including 4myrebate ones up until this. Seems like they've tightened the requirements recently - time to be wary.

Total Defense and typical Tigerdirect rebates have different terms, although you should be using the invoice for both.

From the december total defense form:
• Copy of Receipt/Invoice

From the messenger bag rebate:
• Copy of Receipt/Invoice or Packing List

While you may consider the "order details" as sufficient, on the order details page it specifically states "Note: This is NOT a valid "Proof of Purchase"."

You should always log into your tigerdirect account and print the INVOICE. There's no reason not to.

Patriot Mem is doing 100% MIR scam. I submitted 2 rebates and both of them were declined due to the "missing document". I submitted "printout from beach camera" which according to them was not an invoice. Beach Camera website only allows you to download the receipt from your account page. There is no link to download invoice. MIR form clearly says it can be either receipt or invoice. The page downloaded from beach camera website clearly says it's a receipt. Talked to folks at Patriot Mem and they refuse to accept it as valid, clearly violating the terms of rebate form. They say that the case is now closed since it's over 30 days from denial, and if you argue, they hang up the phone. Beach Camera is willing to do nothing about it, and says MIR are not their responsibility. Both patriot Mem and beach camera are involved in this MIR scam. Never ever buy from beach camera.

Another patriot rebate problem here.

I ordered some patriot ram from tiger direct, on their site it said postmark within 60 days and had a link to the first rebate page which said postmark within 60 days and gave a link to start the rebate process. I was just ordering so I didn't start the process.

I got my ram about a week later and had to wait for my day off to finish building my computer and give the ram a few days to work to make sure I don't have to do a return.

16 days after ordering I start the rebate process and on the final page it says postmark within 14 days. I called the rebate center and they said send it anyway but now I was denied for missing the postmark day.

Reading up online it seems like patriot uses every trick in the book to scam people out of their rebates. If I end up getting my rebate or not I will never buy another patriot product.
