Re: Japan Trip - I used my Anker with me constantly. Oh my gosh it was a freaking life saver. The most I ever had to charge my iPhone was 1 1/2 times. I did run out of juice on a few occasions but I was always able to charge my iPhone enough so that I wasn't left 'high and dry' with no battery.
This thing does take some time to recharge. It's like my iPad Mini Retina. It will take at least 3 hours or maybe even more to fully charge from dead to full. It goes slow. Maybe I should give it the iTreatment and hook it up to the higher milliamp charger?
This Anker battery is built like tank. I kept it in my fanny pack. I dropped my fanny pack a couple times on desk and every time it hit it sounded like I dropped a heavy piece of metal on it.
Wish I had a shorter lightening cord. My 6 foot long cord looked annoying on me while charging it up. I had my iPhone going from my jacket pocket to my fanny pack and the white cord stuck out like sore thumb.
I only used the Anker once or twice on iPad as I rely much more on iPhone than iPad for daily essentials. The iPad is basically for fun and surfing. The iPhone is for survival tasks like looking up things on the go, directions, currency conversion, compass, gps, and whatnot.
If you have smart device and are traveling an extra battery backup is essential! Oh, I also used my Anker to charge my Pocket Wifi in Japan on a few occasions as well since the battery on that died too.
