That information was from Micro Center. They have 4.1 on the overview and 4.2 on the spec tab. Confused
Amazon says 4.1, too.

This is directly from Asus [asus.com] - it says 4.2. I will go with the manufacture.

Thanks, I was just looking at the Pink one at $129 for my 9 yr old daughter. However, at this price i might hve to get the Blue one and a case!

She wanted a video camera for X-Mas...but she does not have a PC or a tablet. IMO, these are great buys that can't be beat if one wants a tablet with a 5MP rear facing camera and 1080P video.

You can get the pink ones several places for $129, and possibly avoid the tax hit.
Sorry can't post links now, but Google will find them for you....

Better off on getting in on the Dell Venue 8 sale that will go on during BF. The processor on this one is lousy.

Rather than just crap on the thread how about posting a link or two where we can get the Dell V8 for $129 or less, besides the 5 people that may be lucky enough to get one on BF ?? (and I won't even go into the long line of issues that the V8 has with it's screen, game loading, and poor battery performance).

Unless you are planing on playing the most resource intensive games available this is a great budget tablet.

Perhaps you may even want to read reviews on this tab?

The Dell Venue 8 sale was a pre-BF sale which means this is what the price will be again on BF. The pre-BF sale was $127 so the assumption is that it will once again be $127 on BF. It was a pre-sale for individuals that are registered to Dell through the Employee Payment Program.

In terms of the Venue 8 vs. the MemoPad 7HD, right off the bat, the Dell Venue 8 comes with a better SoC. It's clocked at 2.0Ghz vs the SoC on the MeMoPad (1.2Ghz). A GeekBench comparison between the two can be found here. [primatelabs.com] These scores indicate that the z2580 processor is superior to the MT8125 in just about every imaginable way. It is especially superior in memory scores.

The Venue 8 comes with double the RAM (2GB) and has a larger screen (8" vs. 7" which makes a BIG difference).

The MeMo Pad 7 does have a better screen and probably better battery capacity (due to it's smaller screen size).

Also, even though the Venue 8 ships with Android, b/c it uses x86 architecture, the Venue 8 should also be able to run Windows 8 offering more OS choices for that tablet model.

To me, for under $130, the Venue 8 on BF is the best bang for the buck to be had.

Hey all, so I tried to PM with TigerDirect this morning, then use AMEX 30 off 100 to bring it down to effectively $70 for the tablet.

I tried the online chat and the rep said that they could do it, but to call in to make it a "secure transaction". When I called in to TD, though the guy said that it was below their buying rate, so they couldnt PM. Anyone else try this or had success?

Tried again with a different rep at TD and they said the 99.99 was "below their cost". If anyone comes up with any other ideas about PM to other stores and using cash rebates to bring the price down even more, please let me know!
