Like others in this thread, i'm running an e3000 as well and its fantastic for a $60 router. I'm running a dd-wrt kong build. I was looking to the asus AC66U for $150 but for $100 this might be a better deal.

Recently got 60/5 internet and my e3000 cpu hits about 90% when maxing the connection to a wired server on my network, and that is with QOS completely disabled. Wireless on e3000 is not fantastic but good enough. My yoga 13 has a POS wifi card (mostly the cause of the issue) and has issues at one end of my place.

Decisions... decisions
I have an e3000 and will be upgrading to 50/5 soon. I read that it should be able handle that with QOS off (which I don't use anyway). My computer is wired directly to the router which runs a modified version of Tomato very well. Is DD-wrt giving you better performance than other firmwares?

As this was not a US-released router when it first came out, it's hard to find many reviews or comparisons, good or bad. Even the product page on newegg.com.

One thing you may not glean very well from the reviews is that the guest network is not set up like a lot of other brand routers. Your guests are directed to a log-in page on their internet browser to put in the guest password, similar to hot spots and hotels that do the same. And you're directed to that page every 24 hours or so.

I picked up the ASUS RT-N66W from amazon for $99 after mir. Should I return that and go for this instead?

Screw linksys... I had old WRT54G that died on me after few years of use... I bought refurbished E1000, which also died on me... I've been using old DDT capable Buffalo one for longest time and no issues with it yet.. knock on wood... I kinda do want a bigger range with AC, but wouldn't want to spend $100 to have it crap out :\

what does the 1300 in AC1300 mean? There is an AC1200 as well. I tried wikipedia but could not find anything.

Don't know - I use dd-wrt because it has all the features I need. When I was on 15/1 I had to use QOS for traffic shaping and it handled that no problem, but on 60/5 it can't do it. Luckily I don't need QOS due to the vast bw now available. I have no complaints about the e3000 - Its been running for 2 years without issue. But for $100 it might be time to upgrade to an AC1750 router with better wifi range, and the ability to turn on QOS should I need it in the future.

I bit on this deal. Worst case is I can CL the ea6700 for what I paid if doesn't improve the wifis.

Sorry to hear that. I bought and deployed approximately 10 refurb e1000s with dd-wrt which all cost around $20 and I have no reports of even one failing.
