So hard to decide. ThunderNews seems to have the best deals today but people are saying they throttle, but not sure what amount of downloading a month triggers this. And they are a highwinds reseller which seems to kill off files quickly.

So whats the best combination of a great deal without worrying about throttling or killing files?

Why not just sign up with usenetserver.com ? $95.xx a year straight up, though you have to search for the link to that special offer.

well for one, Thundernews and newshosting.com is $60. And with Thundernews, it's only $5 for a month, so if you dont like it after the first month you can just stop then and look for something else, while if you dish out the full year up front with UsenetServer, you're stuck with it.

I am guessing UsenetServer.com doesn't have issues with throttling or killing files? Is that why it's so much more expensive?

Ah, gotcha. Was comparing Thundernews' top-plan ($98/year) with Usenetserver.
Not sure who Thundernews is reselling for, but Usenetserver has a crap ton of takedowns, although I've never had issues with throttling or caps.

For those currently on Thundernews, what does the 50 connections buy you? I can pull 20MB/s using 20 connections on Usenetserver right now, although Thundernews' 50 connections might be handy for sharing the account among family.

I had thecube for a little while, but most of the stuff i dled were either dead or inc, so went back to astraweb for $76 a year, can't find any other provider that's as reliable as them for a cheap price.

I have thundernews for about a year and I download around 50 gb a mo and have not noticed any throttling. I'm not sure if they do it at higher amounts. Honestly, it's $5 a mo. saving so much $ for such a specialized service. Smilie

Newsdemon has been excellent for me. Been using them for a few years. Definitely worth giving them a try.
