Price is good through 12/2 while supplies last.

More info:

Sounds like it is a rate limited version of the AC1750 (limit @ 975 Mbps). Hopefully the rate limit will eventually be fixed with custom firmware but I wouldn't assume it will.

Edit: It is the same hardware as the Netgear R6300v2 AC1750. There is a way to overwrite with the unlimited AC1750 firmware. Thanks radengr.

The AC1750 was recently on Dell for $110 (~$130 now), but the bonus of Costco return policy seals the deal for me.

Has a USB 3.0 port, and 3x3 N-Antenna.

Dead, the price is up to $139.99 - $20 = $119.99

The FCC ID for the AC1450 and the R6300v2 are identical. You should be able to use third party firmware for the R6300v2.

dd-wrt firmware:

With Asus RT-AC66R at $118 (and the non-refurb RT-AC66U hitting as low as $140 recently), I would not bother with this.

I just picked up one of these... looks like the hardware might be identically to the R6300v2

As for differences in firmware, this thread is really interesting, especially the comments at the end:
http://arthurandmelissa.com/blog/...f-edition/

Looks like this is a great deal.

EDIT: Confirmed, the hardware *is* identical to the R6300v2. The only difference is the boardid value programmed into the router by default. This router has U12H240T99_NETGEAR, the R6300v2 has U12H240T00_NETGEAR. The thread above talks about changing it.

I successfully turned this into the R6300v2 (AC1650). If anyone needs help, let me know. It took me 5 minutes.

DD-WRT works on these. I haven't tried it yet though.
I am getting almost 65MB/down with the stock R6300v2 firmware though and this laptop.

The guide works perfectly. I just returned my N900 for this an am already happy I did. The N900 backend was incredibly slow.

Quick info for others:

Have you tried dd-wrt yet? I will later. I was unable to connect this morning and has to reset the router.

So in order to upgrade the AC1450 to AC1650 should I first upgrade firmware to R6300v2 and then telnet to update the boarded ....or the other way around?
Thanks. RS

Gather everything in the "guide" above and then plug a cable into one of the LAN ports on the router (not the WAN port).
From a cmd prompt navigate to where you put the files. "Telnetenable" into the router using "telnetenable 192.168.1.1 MACADDRESS Gearguy Geardog" and replacing the MACADDRESS with the routers MAC (on the sticker). When that finishes, type "telnet" into your command prompt to bring up a telnet prompt. You'll need to make sure your OS has telnet enabled, you can google on how to do that. When in a telnet prompt type "burnboardid U12H240T00_NETGEAR". It should let you know that it burned that ID to the board.
Now you can reset your router, go to the router admin page, and upgrade to the R6300v2 firmware. Once the upgrade is complete, you can upgrade to a DD-WRT firmware, which I recommend. http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/view...6c436c5f27

Thanks to all on this thread. A couple of comments of advice to the simple steps, since we're now 8 months past this post. (just picked up a refurb for $60)

Quick info for others:
Guide for N900: http://arthurandmelissa.com/blog/...f-edition/
R6300v2 Firmware: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/...1.0.21.zip
Telnetenable: http://www.myopenrouter.com/downl...Enable.zip Link is dead, this one works http://www.myopenrouter.com/downl...e-Utility/
In CMD: telnetenable 192.168.1.1 MACADDRESS Gearguy Geardog
In Telnet: burnboardid U12H240T00_NETGEAR Only addition is once in telnet, you have to type 192.168.1.1 then hit enter, before typing the burnboardid U12H240T00_NETGEAR
Reset
Upgrade
Thanks for posting the guide radengr!

Can you send me instructions on changing the firmware to the r6300v2? Do you just downloaded from the netgear website?
