Woot [woot.com] has the Qumi Q5 Projector on sale for $299.

There are many more projectors on sale too but this one stands out.

It's one of the best prices I have seen so far even though it is refurbished.

I think Woot has a standard of $5 shipping but in my experience it is reasonably fast shipping.

Enjoy Smilie

Got the Quim5 today.... Unfortunately the USB port does not work... When I insert the usb card reader the Quim5 prompts me to insert the USB cable.... My Usb card reader has a blue indicator light to let you know that the USB is getting the 5volts... But I don't get that from the Quim5, I do get it when I plug it in on my laptop and my tablet.... I was able to watch a movie using the HDMI connection and the picture is pretty good for only 500 Lumens..... My other projector was the Epson 8350.....
That is a bummer with the reader, perhaps not supplying enough power. However the reader may consume more power than the card itself or thumbdrive. Any luck with thumbdrive into usb port?

I will have to dig up one of my thumb drives to see if it can read it.... Anyone else try a card reader? Also, I thought you could use a portable USB hard drive with the Qumi Q5...

Update....

Found a old thumb drive and it does read the files just fine. Can't believe that the Qumi Q5 does not supply 5volts to the USB port... Thank you TuaPui for your advise on this matter....

Those are all definitely nice features, but my point was that $300 is a reasonable commitment for someone who wants a basic projector. $500 begins to deal in the realm of serious purchase. I want a projector, but spending $500+ on one right now would invoke wifely wrath.

You got me thinking though. Might be better just to wait to buy, then get something more like your suggestion. Is 1080p just not that big a deal with projectors, or is it just that 1080 is a LOT more expensive? For example, what would you say is the minimum price point for 700+ lumen led 1080p?
1080p is a very big deal for projectors, just not for projectors of this size because they aren't bright enough to project screens large enough for 1080p to matter.

Awesome suggestion, thanks!

So... There's the Q2, new, for $300 also. Which is a better buy?

New ones have 1 yr, this refurb has 180 days. Do the extended warranties that come from most credit cards apply to refurbs?
I'd be careful with the Bluetooth suggestion. Bluetooth doesn't quite transmit audio in real- time. This is OK with music, but with video you'll have lip-sync issues.

Thanks on the heads up on the Bluetooth... I am happy to report that I did indeed try the Monoprice Bluetooth dongle on the Qumi Q5 and it plays audio in sync... I just watched Dirty Harry and no problems at all.... Did I fire 5 shots or did I fire 6 shots. Do you feel lucky punk........ I gots to know.... LOL Now you know, do the dongle....

Can you tell me if a (2tb or any) portable hard drive can be read by the Qumi Q5 without a powered hub? Or will only flash drives work?
