I have the 1100 model that I picked up a year or two ago during Fry's black friday mistake ($99 instead of $299). It's been amazing for my parents. It's easy to configure, easy for them to see & use, and I haven't had any issues even with them dropping it.
The only issue is that these do not have any way of conforming to your hand like a normal remote, so handling them can get annoying.
For $100, the 1100 model is definitely worth it. I would buy a second and third one for myself if I can find them "new" at that price.
I've purchased a Logitech Harmony 200-series and 510 series from Meritline as refurbished items. I haven't had any issues with either purchases.
It appears that it would be worth holding out for an 1100 model. A quick glance at reviews/forums shows that 1000 owners were not very happy with it.
I bought a refurb 650 from meritline which began restarting itself. The internet told me two different stories. Some people said they had to exchange that model several times and a few people said new batteries fixed the problem for them. So far fresh batteries have worked, but a harmony rep said that it shouldn't do that even with low batteries. At this point I'm also a bit skittish on meritline harmony refurbs. If I saw an 1100 for $100, I'd probably have to give it a go, though.
