Ebay has the refurbished LG Optimus Net 10 Android smartphone for $9.99.

Shipping is free and seller seems to be pretty reputable (top rated)

Probably the most basic, bare bones android phone you can find, but for only $10, how can you go wrong to use as an mp3 player at the gym, media remote, youtube in the bathroom while pooping.

Same phone that net10 was selling for $19.99 a few months ago that was a FP deal

Note: Cant unlock to use with any other provider, its CDMA net 10 locked phone so it wont work on tmoible/at&t or even sprint on Verizon

Specs: 800 Mhz Processor, 3.2" 480x320 Touchscreen, Android 2.3 OS, 3.2 MP Auto-focus Camera, Bluetooth/3G/Wi-Fi, 4GB microSD, etc.

How to root this?
How to install customized ROM?
Can we install sprint or verizon ROMs on this?
I assume they are compatible as they are all CDMA phones.

I googled LG Optimus, but looks like most of the discussions are for other carriers instead of NET10.

Bought 3... for $9 they can literally be toys, and who cares if they get bricked?

For the LG Optimus Net LG L45C, you will need to use Unlockroot from Unlockroot.com. It is currently the only way to root the phone. The Clockwork recovery method that is posted above is not for L45C, it is for P698 and P690, which can brick your phone trying to install it in a phone that may not support it.

Also, good luck with getting software updates for the phone, because Net10 WILL NOT let you upgrade the software on it. It will download the software package, but states that it is invalid and will not install it. If they would allow the phone to update itself, it wouldn't have many bugs that are showing up

Based on the description I see this phone is a CDMA, I wonder it can be used as a sprint phone. Anyone has information?
net 10 phones are unfortunately impossible to be used with another company besides net 10 let alone unlock

Got this phone. Major issues. It keeps resetting to jan 1980 and apps do not want to download. Also; there does not seem to be a physical sim card anywhere...and lastly..you cannot change the date and time setting. wtf?

yup. by spring these phone wont even sell for $1 shipped. anything less then 512mb ram / 8gb storage / 1ghz processor will be worth virtually nothing. even those specs are running in the $40 range now... by next year it might be that any single core phone is worth nothing...
nope... there will be a floor on pricing. think of $20 mp3 players that still sell even now

I signed up Slickdeals to save some bucks, and at the end of year noticed I have spent $200 for stuff which I really don't need.
I'm going to buy this one....
Yeah... Give it a few more years, I probably spent around $8K this year on "deals". I got a 30 pound tub of butter that's covered in mold now, but back in February it was $11 shipped..... I used like a pound of it...

most android phones rely on celluar signal to set time. you dont need an activated plan, but leave airplane mode off so the phone can get time and location from the cell towers.

good to leave the cellular radio on anyway, in case you need to call 911.

Can anyone tell me if mp3 playback supports slight speed increases? Perhaps this is available in a specific Android app.

My Samsung p3 does this well for podcasts, but may die soon.
