I did check everything and plus I opened the second monitor. Both doing the same thing. Good luck everyone who wants to use it with hdmi.
Did you plug an alternate HDMI video source into the monitor (anything other than your laptops)?

I have not tried this it the monitors. All I used was the laptops. I have a ps3 but I dont think ps3 would do the justice. But I will try tomorrow.

Anyone have any good setting for this monitor. Default seems a bit harsh.

it a decent monitor for the price but has HDMI glitch. Which I am very upset about. My alienware does not have any other ports other than HDMI. I am planing to take it to besbuy soon so they can check it.

I played some Dota 2 and it is ok but every time the screen times out I have to unplug and plug back in.

I went to best buy and we tested everything. the monitor will work with a desktop HDMI only and it will work with VGA/dvi with everything. it will not work with laptop HDMI. Thats the final conclusion.

Please take appropriate actions if you are planing to use it with HDMI and a laptop.

turn off the screen with the button and turn it back on with the button. And see if it turns on.

This is the contrast test that I mentioned:
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/contrast.php

The sony can distinguish all the contrast steps from 1-32 while the Insignia didn't see anything in the steps below 4 or 5 and the higher steps were almost indistinguishable..

White levels:
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/white.php

Insignia failed it miserably. My Sony can't make out squares 253 and 254 but every other square is distinguishable.

Black levels:
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php

Another fail for Insignia. Sony can't make out square 1 and 2 but all other squares are distinguishable.
Maybe you had a dud because my Insignia has no problem below 5 contrast with factory settings. It pushes them together a bit at the high end, though.

I can see 252 on the white level chart. (barely, but it's there.) And black levels are fine. So far, looks like a typical TN panel to me.

Like someone else said, anyone have a very good recommended settings for this monitor to use??

I'm not good enough to figure out which brightness, contrast and other things are the ideal setting...

I just got this today by shipping, afraid to open it from all these comments and.... possible dead pixels...

I got 2 monitors and I am having trouble with both of them. May be it is designed that way but here whats going on. When I plug in the monitor to my alienware laptop(tried 2 other laptops) with hdmi. it shows everything fine. When for some reason the laptop or the screen times out and you turn it back on. The display would not show anything. it says "no signal". I tried with DVI and everything works as it supposed to work.

I am really confused here.

Is there anyone else is having the same problems??? I am really tempted to return these.

any suggestions would appreciated.

Strange. Sorry, don't have any suggestions, but wanted to say that I have 1 monitor hooked up via HDMI (desktop) and it comes out of sleep mode just fine.

Previously I was using a 24" Insignia LED TV as a monitor and it would shut off when the PC went into sleep mode and I'd have to turn the monitor back on. The other 24" connected via VGA would wake up just fine. I couldn't find any "auto shut down" type feature in the TV menu, so not sure why VGA and HDMI behaved differently.

I will say that picture from this monitor looks much better than the TV. Both are 24" LED 1080p. Wife is happy that she now gets to upgrade the 19" in the kitchen to a 24", and I'm happy that I can actually use my 2nd monitor to read text.

In the end, it's a good monitor for someone that doesn't know better but for us folks that do I'd suggest to stay away or else you'll be as disappointed as I was. My interest is kind of peaked for the 24" Dell IPS monitor that's always on sale here but I'm not sure it it'll be a worth while buy for me.

I've had mine hooked up for about 12 hours, but I'm happy with the display.

I can make out all in the white contrast. 254 is faint, but I can see it.

I can make out all in the black contrast. I have to stand up and be perfectly level with the monitor to make out 1, but it's there. I have my monitors on top of a 12" shelf, so I do have to look up at a slight angle - bottom bezel with the Insignia logo is at eye level for me.

At that angle I can't make out 1-3 on the black. 254 for white is the opposite - I can see it while sitting down, but not when looking at it straight on.

I haven't played with any of the settings - contrast and brightness are at 50, backlight is at 80, and color adjust is normal. I'm running it via HDMI at 1920x1080 with an ATI Radeon HD 4250.
