I have the exact problem with HP laptop via HDMI. Every time the screen goes off and tries to get it back on, the monitor won't detect any signal. Power off and on with the button on the monitor doesn't help. The only way to get it back on is to unplug the power cord and plug it back in. Going to return it back to store later today....
Actually it got worse. It is will not work even with the unlpug now for me. Just bought HDMi to DVI cable and it is working ok now.

Mine didn't like using HDMI for whatever reason. (2 of them.) Worked fine with HDMI cable with a DVI adapter on the end and using the monitor's DVI input. I tried multiple of the same kind/brand of HDMI cable. Then tried a completely different brand of HDMI cable, and they work fine. And then I swapped to the cables that previously didn't work, and now the monitors work fine with those too. shake head

Desktop. Two of them, actually. Both with ATI cards. Never got around to trying an Nvidia card since the other cable fixed the problem.

Had similar issues with the monitor not responding until an unplug/replug. Going to return this, and already ordered the Dell U2412M for $195 to replace
