How does this compare to the Dell 24" E2414H that was $99 on black friday?
Dell has no hdmi i believe.

also can you use this as a tv since it has the hdmi? just wondering.

this seems a little better for me since it had hdmi, and the dell doesn't. other than that some people prefer dell over insignia.

May be, I am planing to use it with my chromecast.

Edit: got one from ebay but they were charging me tax... then I emailed for my order to be cancelled and purchased it with in store pickup. I hope I will like this monitor.

This is a great deal. Specially since it has an HDMI and audio out.
I had a a 25" HP monitor with a 5ms response time and it was great for gaming and looked fantastic as a monitor.

I'd recommend getting this through the Best Buy website though. I'm not sure if the eBay deal qualifies for their holiday return policy.

Yes, but the Insignia is $20 cheaper. But iit comes with a 1 year warranty while the Dell has a 3 year warranty.

To clarify - the specs for the newer model ( E2414Hr) only has a 1 year warranty. But the E2414H we got on Black Friday was advertised as coming with a 3 year warranty. There seems to be a lot of confusion between these two models. Even Dell wasn't sure what the difference was.

time to move up to a dual monitor setup and kill my ebay gift cards - can return to BBY store if necessary... nice perk.

You can use it as a TV with two issues: 1. No remote. 2. No speakers. So if you hook up a Roku to it and a pair of cheap speakers, it would work fine, but you would need to change the volume on the speakers. Might be easier to buy a really cheap TV.

Just to clarify:

EDIT: This isn't a TV either as someone pointed out.

The Dell and Asus deals are for monitors NOT HDTVs as they do not have tuners. You'd need to use a computer and get a USB tv tuner to use it as a TV. Also - there's no speakers on them (you could buy one but, again, it'll add to the cost like the additional tuner).

Also - the monitors don't come with antenna/cable-in port (for your coaxial cable) which some of you may need to view your tv channels.
