skype is very dirty, be careful once redeemed they ALSO expire, the thing is skype will not tell you when they expire. And its impossible to get ahold of them.
Thanks. I though I was the only one who felt like that. I remember everything about the code being very vague. Just the statement that the code will expire but once redeemed won't expire is so confusing. These F**ers need a classaction lawsuit. I bet they do all this just to confuse people and make more money off "expired" codes

Yup this what happened to me. Customer rep replied negative on merging the subscriptions or refund the voucher.
Thats just plain dirty, what are you going to do? Thats one of the reasons I hate all these "semi gift cards". At least with gift cards, you have some laws and regulations.

Not sure but he might be talking about this:
http://slickdeals.net/f/6564478-12-month-skype-group-video-calling-service-free?v=1
yup, but I got excited for nuttin' , even though your account said Skype Premium, this only add Group Video Chat (nothing to do with phone calls).
Remember this is a 12-month trial and trial Premium doesn't include any unlimited free calls.
Only Paid Premium account has unlimited free calls feature.

Not going to go through this stress with MS for skype half price when I have Ringplus for free. It all just seemed to come together until I dealt with MS billing again. Seriously, back in may they had the half price points with xbox one notification. Only recently was I able to add a payment system, over six months!

A "Work-Around Option;

For those of you having trouble with the dysfunctional Microsoft Store website, ... here's an option that I just used to purchase a $25 Skype credit for 30% off, (I paid $17.50 for the $25. skype-credit gift certificate). This 30% discount is being offered via the Skype website "for a limited time", (it says).
I sent this Christmas-gift certificate to myself, ha ha. ... It's not as good as the 50% offer listed here, ... but for all of us who couldn't access that deal because of their tech-problems, this is a nicely discounted option that works easily, (you can pay via credit card or Paypal). Here's the link; http://shop.skype.com/skype-cards...o-carousel

Happy Holidays!
Hi Slickdealers, This is an amendment to my prior posting (quoted above), ... because after I suggested the option of using the Skype Store work-around (for a 30% discount), ... I found several complaints in the Skype forums about this service.
I normally wouldn't recommend a service that has that many complaints, ... but I wasn't aware of it until I just discovered them, ... so please accept my apologies, (and if you decide to use it anyway, proceed with caution). I'm hoping my purchase will be fulfilled within 48 hours as their confirmation email states, ... if not, I'll follow-up with further details here.
The gist of what the forum-complaints state is that even though this option is found on the Skype website, it's a third-party subcontractor called "Chat and Vision" that operates the sales and fulfillment of the gift cards from Hong Kong. Some customers didn't get their orders delivered, and then had trouble following-up with Skype and the Chat and Vision vendor. To see several examples of the complaints, just do a search for "Skype Chat and Vision Giftcard Problems". heart

I guess the deal has gone less sweet. It shows 30% off now, instead of 50%

can someone help me by detailing steps to redeem the Skype credit to my existing Skype account
It took me a while to find it too: https://secure.skype.com/portal/voucher/redeem

I bought $50 credit for $25. In the meantime I cancelled my Ireland subscription (unlimited calls from US to Irish landlines) so it will now expire in Feb 2014. I was paying $16.95 every three months for that. Now I'm moving to Ireland. I intend to use GV to make calls back to the US as long as free GV lasts. Then I can use Skype if needed.

Someone said something about the Skype credit expiring even once added to your account. Is this if the account is inactive? or is it if you don't dip into the credit occasionally?

When you purchase the 1 yr US/Can unlimited subscription, the webpage provides the coupon code (product key). What is hidden until you click on the '-' below the code is the set of instructions to activate the code:

Instructions to redeem the Skype prepaid cards:

1. Download Skype and register for free at www.skype.com/go/prepaidcardUS
2. Follow the online instructions to redeem the code
3. Start making calls

I did this with four different codes and then went into my skype account (www.skype.com) which showed that my US/CAN unlimited plan was extended another four years. Yes, the skype/msft chat support line is virtually useless, but I strongly believe this can be done (stacking codes). As I explained above, I did so.

i will be going out of country for a month and want to make phone calls usually from the airport when i land. i was wondering about the wi-fi connection. they said they have over 2 million hot spots i can connect from. do they charge extra for connecting to their hot spot to make a phone call (if there isn't a free wifi connection available at the airport)? where can i find this info? i am suspending my AT&T service while i travel. any help will be appreciated.

Just following-up on my earlier posts (above). The card I ordered was delivered to my email address today, ... it took just over 17 hours for it to arrive, ... (so their system seems to work, albeit slowly). I see also that Walmart is offering the same deal (see Skype post by Pandarium). Once again; Wishing all a very happy holiday, and a joyful Christmas! heart

...nobody cares...
..
nobody forces you to switch to IE from whatever
in your IE hatred you missed, that ordering did not work for me in chrome and only for that I ordered with IE

there's always a VM for "unsafe" stuff
