FWIW--although I don't own a 350, I do own a SOLO; its power supply (contained in the AC adapter, thank goodness) went bad recently after a few years of usage. Would have been somewhat difficult to initially guess that it was the PS, given that the indicator light on the box itself was lit and flashing. Lucky for me, a buddy of mine works at Sling and had a few extra AC adapters lying around...
when my ps went bad on my first original slingbox, i called sling and they sent one to me for free. for the first couple models, i guess it was a known issue. haven't had any ps issues with hd or pro. just got 350 last week so we shall see.
Sling claims (or implies) that the 350 will do 1080P but isn't that impossible over composite or component connections? Not that I want to even try to view 1080P content on my 4G smartphone anyway.
Then there is the issue of needing an IR blaster to operate your cable box. Fortunately, my new Comcast service came with a Pace RNG110 set-top box which includes a IR Receiver input port. I wonder if the IR-Out on the 350/500 could be wired directly to the IR-In on my cable box? This cable box principally uses HDMI to connect to the TV (though coax is a secondary option) but it also has component and composite connections still - probably for customers with legacy standard-def TV's. It's easy to imagine that going away in a few years as fewer and fewer people will need connections other than HDMI. Then I'd be stuck with yet another dead-end legacy Slingbox (my old Slingbox Tuner doesn't have a IR-Out port so I'm hosed on encrypted, digital channels).
I used to love Slingbox years ago (listening to cable news, audio only, during my daily commute) but I barely even watch TV these days. Honestly, I think I'd rather spend the money on satellite radio. Maybe my young children would use it occasionally on the iPod Touch or iPad. They've already got Netflix though.
The Slingbox was impressively high-tech five years ago but it's hard to for me to get excited about it today.
