Office Depot has the Realspace Magellan Collection L-Shaped desk in espresso, classic cherry, or honey maple for $140.32. I have two of these and the build quality is amazing. Well constructed, sturdy, with good hardware.

http://www.officedepot.com/a/prod...aped-Desk/

I used the the following coupon for $25 off $125+ "1AWW35JA3M600R" I think the coupon is expiring today.

I was able to get the shipping fee waived by talking to the live chat reps online if you cannot pick up locally. The hutch is also available for an extra $59 http://www.officedepot.com/a/prod...tch-33-58/ and you can use coupon code "1BJW84THWN500K" to take $35 off, bringing the desk + hutch to $164.98 which is pretty amazing for an awesome desk like this, this was on sale together with the hutch for $198 with no coupons on black friday.

EDIT: The coupon above has expired, instead you can use another $30 off $175 coupon

R4HQ3QZSF9X006 EXPIRES: 01/31/2014

1/9 - Deal is definitely dead

For anyone interested, I assembled the desk (not the hutch yet) yesterday - all by myself. It took me 2 + 4 = 6 hours over two days and was very smooth. And if you are wondering, I have done carpentry work before and have sufficient common sense.

A few notes to keep in mind:

1. Look at the pics carefully - as they say in carpentry, measure twice, cut once.
2. As you go through the steps, look at the pictures again and make sure the board you are about to use is not upside down or flipped. They look very similar.
3. Consider using a marker and writing down the part# of each piece on it somewhere so that when you are on Step 14 and need board C, you can find it easier
4. MDF is not wood, be gentle and hammer very carefully. Provide support on the free end of long boards as you assemble them. When you put two board together, hammer lightly to ensure good contact, especially on the dowels.
5. Most important: You will not be able to move the desk once you get beyond step 12. Therefore, assemble in the target location directly.
6. The place you need the most help us in Steps 12 to 14, when you put the desk top on. There are a lot of pieces and they need to be perfectly aligned, so some light hammer use (See #4 above) may be needed along with a second pair of eyes and hands.

All said, the finished product does indeed look amazing. Well worth the effort in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

Using this exact desk now in cherry. Solid construction, but the veneer is a little iffy. A piece of packing tape that got on my desk surface took the veneer with it when I removed it. That said, I would buy the desk again, and this is a fantastic price. TU.

I am a little confused by the dimensions. Are those assembled dimensions?

Edit:
No, they can't be. Based on the size of the hutch and the picture (drawing lines on it) the long end must be about 70".

Ditto on the veneer. Make sure you use a mouse pad on the keyboard tray. I worked my way right through it with with normal browsing and work. Otherwise great deal.

Watch out for the keyboard drawer. Not enough room for a mouse.

I have been using this desk and hutch set for 3 years. It looks good when new. After 1 year or so, paint losses showed up. See the picture I took with my iphone a minute ago:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com.../photo.JPG

The desk is made of very cheap wood material. I once tried to tighten up a lose screw, ended up with wood pieces falling off, like some kind of sawdust or plaster used for drywall.

Having said that, I am still using it. If I had another room for another home office, I'd buy again.

BTW, prepare to spend a whole day to assemble the whole set (desk + hutch).

Wow, I just don't even understand how that happened. I've been using mine now for over 4 years daily with no signs of wear.

I love the veneer for drinks, great computer desk. Agreed that there's no room on the keyboard drawer for a mouse.
