New Feature and Graphical Update: Consolidate Search

If it's not a browser setting, go down to the bottom of the page. There's a black (or perhaps other for other color schemes) that says your colors cheme, then there's 4 small buttons. Hover over them until you see the one that says decrease font size. That might fix it.

I understand there needs to be a bit of room due to location...but maybe the location line doesn't need to SAY location...
or maybe if someone's location is that long it overrides the word location....

Hi, I'm having a problem when I click the + to expand a post.
In Firefox 2.0.0.11pre it just continuously cycles, without expanding.
In MSIE 7 I get an error message when I try to expand.

I checked a sniffer and I think the problem has something to do with how I visit slickdeals.net.
When visiting slickdeals I often type just "slickdeals.net"
I did a debug and I notice that when searching the server gives notice and tries to change the location to forums.slickdeals.net

You can reproduce by typing slickdeals.net in IE7. Then at the search box type in: best buy
You should end up with a URL like:
http://slickdeals.net/sdsearch.php?mode=&showposts=0&search=best+buy
When trying to expand a post, it doesn't appear to work.

If you add the word 'forums' it does work though.

Also I have a problem with the new slickdeals search box in ie7. If I click on it, the "keywords" does not disappear and the text in the box remains gray. I have javascript enabled. Please see screenshot searchbox_ie7.png

And I renew my request that the fonts be unlocked, scalable and respect browser preferences. Look at ajax2.png, particularly the expanded post. The fonts are horribly tiny. As I mentioned in a previous post I don't have that problem on most of SD.

Thanks for your report. As of this writing the post preview should be fixed. Regarding the search box containing the words "Keywords" --- unfortunately the bug you have discovered is due to the fact that you may be trying to enter your search term before the page is able to complete loading (ie the javascript has not fully loaded).

If you do wait for the page to load completely this will be resolved. We may take a look at modifying the code, or simply emptying this box from now on.

Finally, with the text size we'll work on that .

Hey bryantq, in firefox (2.0.0.11) when I use the search box that drops down from the menu above, if I click the "search in thread titles only" box or change the radio button from view threads to view posts the search box disappears. I have to click the search text again to bring it back ( it does come back with my new option selected). Not a huge deal, just something that never used to happen before. Do you know why this is (or is it just me)?

I just tried it and that happened to me as well, so it's not just you.

That would be great, Bryant, thank you . The text in the results when using the new search box is teeny tiny and any way to make it bigger would be greatly appreciated. (though, frankly, I prefer the way the results display using the 'old' search drop down, so I still use the old search the most.)
