UPDATE 1/3/14: 20% code FORYOU is no longer working.
Free Shipping and discounted prices have not changed.

Harry & David [harryanddavid.com] are running a Free Shipping promotion for most of their pears. This is automatically applied and stackable with their existing discounts and their 20% off code FORYOU. Apply the code by choosing "Edit Coupons" under Order Total during the checkout process.

The best deal is for their Maverick (less than perfect) pears. I've ordered them multiple times and never thought the quality or taste was any less than The Favorite pears.

$24.95 - 20% = $19.96 Two Boxes of Maverick(R) Royal Riviera(R) Pears [harryanddavid.com]

$16.95 - 20% = $13.56 One Box of Maverick(R) Royal Riviera(R) Pears [harryanddavid.com]

$19.95 - 20% = $15.96 One Box of The Favorite(R) Royal Riviera(R) Pears [harryanddavid.com]

$24.95 - 20% = $19.96 Family Affair Royal Riviera(R) Pears [harryanddavid.com]

$24.95 - 20% = $19.96 [URL="http://www.harryanddavid.com/h/5"]Cream of the Crop Royal Riviera(R) Pears

Thanks!! I was just searching for these the other day, but couldn't find them (or they weren't on sale yet). Glad to order them today.

Every year I hear how awesome these are. Time to give it a shot now that they're practical the same cost as the grocery store.

You may forfeit the 5% cash back if you use an outside coupon. If they supply the coupon, then no problem.

any feedback on 18 of the "Maverick" vs. 16 of the "Family Affair"? ie is it worth forfeiting 2 pears to get (perhaps) better quality?

Everyone who got a box last deal, status report! Quality, did they all ripen at once as usual, anything of note?

Well, the Maverick is 10 pounds (2 boxes) and the Family Affair is 6 pounds. The Cream of the Crop is also 6 pounds. I've had mixed success with the Maverick. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. They will replace any order that you are unhappy with, though. Personally, I would go with the Mavericks or the Cream. Would avoid the Tower of Trash. 100% pears is always the best bet.

The Favorite is good too. To go from the Favorite to the Family Affair, your paying 25% more for 20% more poundage for smaller (less desirable) pears.

Just finished the pears from pre christmas sale.

They took 1-2 days to ripen and needed to be eaten within about 4-5 days.

The pears were sweet and juicy. Perhaps slightly smaller than previous years, but just as tasty.
