Recommend B&M purchase for easiest method. Online orders require the mail-in-rebate [imageg.net].

(I can't find details on this one, but it may exclude sale items.)

They also have Homz 18 gallon totes [acehardware.com] (black) on sale for $4.99 - $1 Rewards rebate = $3.99,

this is a good deal for that shelf unit
however do keep in mind the shelf depth is only 14". the in-store price of the HDX one at HD is not that much more, i believe it's 16" deep, and that one has the circular beams and the fully ventilated shelves. guess it's personal preference but the other type seems to be better

for $30 though, this is hard to beat. of course my local ACE keeps a couple in stock and chances are it's already gone by now. i guess i'll just order online and try and get a rebate (gasp). ACE's rebate program is more flawed than the affordable care act. i would love to grab several of these for my basement and garage

other items to note: 32 gallon trash can for $10 (no wheels though but can easily be modified), First Alert Smoke + Carbon Monoxide Alarm for $30 (runs on AA batteries though, not sealed 10 yr lithium), lots of misc garbage for $1, a fire extinguisher for $17, a $3 battery operated LED light with corded switch, $8 fluorescent light fixture, etc. ACE is great for cheap junk sometimes, looks like this week is a big score. i'll be going there after new years day brunch

I think Home Depot is offering the same model for $69.99 [homedepot.com]. The Home Depot's Model # is GR6-3414-5-PCB while Ace's is CSA341472 so I'm pretty sure it's the same model or close.

I prefer to order this online as apparently shipping would be free. But I'll take the OP's advice and try to pick one up locally; seems like the easiest method to insure the rebate actually is honored.

Show them your Rewards card for an instant rebate (like a coupon). When I originally signed up through the website, I was given a chance to print a temporary membership card.

The old mail-in-rebate process is still available (might need it for online orders), but the rebate pdf file is broken. I've already notified their customer service.

Comparing these steel units to the HDX plastic ones isn't really comparing the same type of shelves. Those plastic ones WILL SAG if you attempt to put anything heavier than 15 lbs. towards the middle.

At Home Depot, as far as 18" deep units go, there is no beating these Edsal 36"W x 18"D x 60"H units for the regular price of $34.88
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Edsal-...203926737#

They are much much more heavy-duty than the Gorilla unit at Ace. Gorilla 14"D unit is rated at 250# per shelf (1250# total for unit). The Home Depot Edsal unit is rated at 800# per shelf (3200# per unit). The difference is not just shelf size, but also in steel gage used, plus the way the uprights are designed. The Edsal has a brace (very TIGHT brace, I might add!!) which adds much stability. Also, if you do the math, the Edsal unit actually gives you 212 more sq. inches of shelving space.

Right now, if you buy 3 units, with the NEWYEAR10 code, will be less than $100. I have 4 of them, they are totally awesome! I used the 4th unit to put extra shelf in 2 of the others, then have a 2-shelf one for a workbench-type unit. I have taken them apart and moved them several times, and I leave the upright pieces together when I disassemble them. Actually, it's pretty impossible to get them apart once you have them together (the uprights, that is!). Out of many types of units, these are the easiest to take apart, move, and reassemble, IMHO!!

Also, with the design of these Edsal uprights, you are not limited on the placement of shelves (height between them) like you are with the Gorilla steel units. With the Gorilla unit, a "shelf" is the "connector" between the top and bottom half. That shelf has to be at that height, no matter what. May seem like not a big deal, but I returned some because of it. It also limits the height adjustment of the other shelves, since the one shelf is stationary. Not much flexibility at all! It basically means that only 2 of the shelves are adjustable, since the bottom shelf has to be at bottom, connector shelf is stationary, and top shelf has to be at top. That only leaves 2 that are "adjustable".

That said, for a 14"D steel shelving unit, this Gorilla one is a good one.

oh trust me if i could get one of those i would. problem is, no store carries them near me and there is no ship-to-store option and ship to home is a fortune even with an order over $45

Wow! Didn't realize they were charging for shipping on those right now. It' used to be offered with free ship to store (the 72"H version of that [homedepot.com] "is" offered with ship-to-store, weird) I actually got mine last year when they had them stocked in the stores. I believe it was last March. Maybe they'll bring them back in-store this year.

Alternatively, get them at Amazon with free shipping here:
Edsal UR-364BLK Heavy Duty Steel Industrial Shelving
[amazon.com]

Also, those are sooo worth it....I had 3 other units....used them for about 6 months, then sold them on Craigslist for more than I paid for them, lol! Since I bought in-store, I was able to use a Harbor-freight coupon for 20% off.

Why isn't this on the front page? BTW, those mentioning the Edsal units, they look great as well.

it should be FP, but let's keep it underground for now shall we? there are already people clearing out ACE stores on the truck days as is just from the weekly circular. i grabbed 2 but i am going to go back and have them order it for me in the store so i can get the rebate instantly but that involves 2 trips. might be better to just use Discover for 10% CB at the $35 price and save myself time and hassle
