they've usually offered them around thanksgiving/christmas, i didn't see anything this time. thought i missed out or something.
i'll keep waiting, i guess.
What has happened to all the FAR norton offers.
I would also like to know this. I have been waiting for free Norton Antivirus
I bought from NewEgg a few months back FAR for $50. I then waited until my current subscription was down to the last day and input the new code.
Debating on grabbing this so I have the code for when this one expires, or hold out for another FAR
I suggest to wait. There will be more offers. Especially since I am only looking for the Antivirus and not the complete Internet Security suite.
And of course there are always the free antivirus versions...
Norton began cracking down on rebates beginning of 2013. Many people were told that they have exceeded the limit of $1000 per person per year. They eventually paid out to most of the people that bought it before they abruptly instituted this policy. Since then they have been very limited amounts of free software but in the past 6 months, I have not seen more than 2 offers if that. I posted many of the Free After Rebate deals for Frys past few years and so I would know.
If you are waiting, you might have to wait a while.
I'm torn right now. I have Norton installed on my HD right now, but it expires this month. I have Bitdefender Sphere that I got for FAR from Newegg to replace it, because Norton isn't offering any FAR deals any more. It would be easier to just keep Norton since I have it installed, and know how it works. I've been using it for 10+ years. Plus, I have various firewall settings all ready. But it's also $15.
With Bitdefender, I do already have the software, but I have to uninstall Norton and install Bitdefender, then set it up how I like it and learn it. Supposedly, it's slightly better, too.
One question, if anyone knows: Does Bitdefender play well with Malwarebytes? Norton told me when installing that I'd need to uninstall it, but I ignored it, and they work fine together. Does Bitdefender have any issues with Malwarebytes? That might be the final criteria I use in my decision.
Unless anyone else has any other strong reasons why I should go with one or the other.
If this is for a Win7 box, be aware that my previous installation of Bitdefender IS 2013 last year broke Error Reporting, caused intermittent issues with Microsoft Update, and broke basic functionality of the Action Center. If you use any of those, just be aware that they may not work. I did report the issue to Bitdefender, but it took more than a month before I got ANY response at all from them and had already reverted to Norton which had none of those problems.
Is there a time frame that you have to use the keys by?
No. If you don't activate it by doing an install, it never gets recorded in your Norton account. Once you do an install and activation, it expires in a year even if you do only 1 out of the 3 licenses.
I bought this via a deal last year at $4.99/3 users directly from Symantec. The codes stayed inactive in my account until I needed them.
If you currently have NIS installed, wait until the last day left on the current subscription before entering the new code.
