Updated 1/24: deal on the RC-70s is back!

Fry's has the Energy RC-70 [frys.com] tower speakers ($349.99/ea) and Energy RC-10 [frys.com] bookshelf speakers ($349.99/pr) on sale, both with free shipping. These speakers are discontinued and very difficult to find, and sound/look fantastic. The RC-70 were lower last winter at $300/ea, but even at this higher price, they still offer good value, especially for 2-channel music listening. Edit: to complete your setup, add the RC-LCR for only $300 shipped [frys.com]! (thanks PerryH for the heads up)

Sound and Vision on the RC-70 [soundandvision.com]. Vann's customer reviews of RC-10 [vanns.com].

Note: The RC-70 are showing at $399.99/ea on their site, but the lower price will be used when you add them to your cart.

Edit: The RC-70 are now on backorder, but at the lower price of $324.99.

Those bookshelf speakers are overkill for surrounds and rears or a good match for side & rear speakers with CF-70s?

Better! I have a 5.1 setup with the RC-70, LCR, RC-R, and an Emotiva 10" Ultra, blows me away on a consistent basis...!

Depends on your placement and your use. I listen to music in my receiver's "expanded" surround setting, so it uses the fronts and rears. Totally work having good surrounds in that situation.

Thanks!

I bought a pair of the RC-10s.

This is a great deal on the RC-70s as well. I just don't have a need for them. I'm still using a set of JBL L5's I bought in college, and I picked up a spare set for beans on craigslist recently. So, I've got more floorstanders than I have floor.

I have the RC-50s and they are absolutely amazing. If I had the funds, I might upgrade to these and sell my old ones. Even used, the RC series demands a premium on classifieds.

I would be tempted if I could get the matching center but a quick search, found only one used for $450 shipped

If you're looking for some fantastic sounding speakers at a less than astronomical price, jump on these. You will probably never find a better speaker value. They do require some break-in time, but the sound is well worth the effort.

It is showing $399 but after you add to the cart price will drop down to $349.99 shipped. The lowest can find now. Sorry for those need to pay tax. I owned this set before and Polk rti A series. This one is more musical and easier to drive not like Polk need a lot of power.

They also have the matching RC-10 bookshelf for $349.99 a pair shipped.

Lowest is around $299 when Vanns is around.

The Energy RC's are definitely in a different league than the Polks, but sound is a subjective thing. Polks tend to be very bright, I find them shrill at times. The RC line has a more forward punchy sound. Very defined midrange and the low end on these speakers is excellent. It really depends on personal preference though.

Here's another review on the RC-70 [soundstage.com]
