So my dad was in town for a week, which put me behind on my DW watching. I'm home alone (DH is working late) and watching Listen, in the dark. Just at the point where the thing rises up from the kids bed, I see a shape hovering in midair just to the left of the TV stand and then make out two eyes staring at me. EEK!Bigeye Cold

It was one of the cats on top of their post, never saw him enter the room. Faint

I must be very superficial.. I cannot get into this new season/Dr. I have a couple of episodes on the DVR and am not in a hurry to watch them.

I am not even that fond of Claira... they need a good looking Dr and a new (or a few new) sidekicks.

The lizard lady is still cool...

I haven't liked the new episodes either, especially didn't like the first one, even though I love the lizard lady and her companions.

It pains me to say this, as I've always liked Peter Capaldi, but I don't think he's a very good Doctor Who. When all the other doctors changed, they brought their own unique personality to the show but there was a core part of the doctor that was still there. However Capaldi doesn't have that spark and it's been very disappointing to watch him as The Doctor. Add to that there's been some weak writing in this seasons stories and it's just not a good year. The episode I've enjoyed the most (which isn't saying much) is the most recent one because it was more about Clara than The Doctor.

BTW, they've already announced that Clara will be leaving the show in the Christmas special. Here's hoping they get a new Doctor too. Sadwalk

I have been having the exact same sentiments. I haven't even had the motivation to watch any more after the first couple. I thought it was just me, too! laugh out loud

Soooo, I've heard about Doctor Who a lot. I know what it's about, but I've never gotten around to watching it. Is it really that good? I'm skeptical of starting a show with no ending.

It's my second favorite show of all time, with the first being Sherlock. Yes it's worth watching, it sort of has endings as it wraps some things up when they change The Doctor and/or his companion(s). It's really not like any other show you've seen and you really need to watch it to understand it.

Not every episode is a winner but sometimes things surprise you. For example one of the doctors companions is a person who I didn't like much from her other work. So I had low expectations when she became the doctors companion but she and the writers did an excellent job and some of the episodes she was in are my favorites now.

So start with the relaunch in 2005 (the 'new' Doctor Who series) and give it three or four episodes and you'll be hooked. You won't regret it. nod

I'm kinda let down this season, too. I like the new Doctor, but he doesn't really feel like the same Doctor... Which is weird because yes, he is a different actor... but is still supposed to be playing the same person Ermm Instead of quirky, he comes across as stupid to me Frown

Not a fan of Clara. I see complaints from people about how it feels to Clara-focused. And really, I think all of them have been companion-focused anyway, so that can't be it. I guess it is too Clara-focused, and I'm just not a fan of her. She's not bad. I don't hate her or anything, but I'd prefer her to be a short-term companion instead of this long-term one that she has become.

I just acquired the first 7 episodes of the season, and watched them all over the weekend. So it felt like it was very rushed from the "I'm not your boyfriend, Clara" to "Fine, I'm going to find a new boyfriend then!" Facepalm Ugh, that shouldn't be such a big deal...

I'm just not feeling like this is connected.
Maybe it would feel more connected if we got an old companion back. They made just a quick mention of River for a second. Anybody! It would help tie things in a bit better. And River had made a comment when she met 10 that made it sound like she had seen the Doctor with a different face before - not just 11. I think pulling someone else in might help things feel more familiar.

Edit:
And as soon as I hit the "Post Reply" button, I realized... This might be what they tried to do with the "Paternoster Gang" but I am thinking characters that have been more involved than them.

The episode that aired over the weekend was the first DW of this season that was interesting.
