So this is the best of all worlds and kind of makes all us Vita-mix or Blendtec loyalists friends again. Blendtec make a Wildside jar that is compatible with the Vita-mix Blender....it usually sells for $139 and is now $19.95 with free ground shipping.

If you have an older Vita-mix and need a good cheap alternative for a new jar or want an extra jar this is a great deal and gives the advantages that Blendtec folks love with the shape of the Jar.

There is no stock counter so no idea how long this will last...and no unfortunately we can not buy this and use it with our Blendtecs! ( Customer Service just promised me it will work the same as a wild side on my Blendtec so picked up another!)

Here's the response I just got back in an email requesting an update on the status of my order:

"Due to the overwhelming demand we have been running very behind on orders for the Rebel Jar. Our production department is working hard to catch up with all the orders and they anticipate having them shipped out by the end of the month."

Yeah, OK... Just wondering if anyone got one yet on this thread.

Nope. I'm on the same email chain as the other guys and just got an update:

"We have not shipped any Rebel jars yet. I just went and examined the jars myself and we have all the parts ready to go, they just need to be packaged and shipped.

We will be expediting these to get them to our customers this week."

Thanks for the update guys. Looks like they finally came clean. Hopefully they ship this week. If not we may have to email the CEO en masse nod

Same here. It took me a while to guess who it was coming from. They really aren't making any money on these jars considering that the shipping is costing them close to the $20 we paid (2nd day air for me).

Got mine. Is anyone concerned about the warranty potentially being voided? The gear socket from what I understand is something that needs to be replaced periodically any way.

ps. There are no instructions included on how to change it, so thanks to the posters for the video link in how to do it.

Got mine too. The socket is different, so there will be no interchanging of the jars.

It looks to me like it just slips on. It's a pretty snug fit on mine, so I don't think it would go anywhere. I was surprised it didn't have a set screw like the vitamix one.

It looks like it should be simple enough to switch between the two sockets if I want, but I'm still debating if I should just be one of "those people" and flip it for a quick profit. I was really hoping it would just be interchangeable with the vitamix jar and the steel socket was just a cya thing.

I finally got my three jars I ordered yesterday. Out of the box they don't have the vitamix piece attached to jar which I liked because I have a Blendtec and had a hunch these would work with the blendtec if you just use the jar minus the vitamix part. Mine came with an allen wrench to attach it to the vitamix machine (if I had one).

So without anything inside it I ran it very briefly just to see if it works and it does work with my blendtec even though they claim it only works with Vitamix. Here's my question though. My order came with a letter saying, -

"Blendtec Owners- The Rebel Jar is not compatible with the Blendtec blenders because the Vitamix motor turns in the opposite direction of a Blendtec motor. If you own a Blendtec and have purchased the Rebel Jar by mistake, please contact our customer service at 800-748-5400 and we will replace it. "

I'm confused why this can't work with the Blendtec? I know they mention it's because of the motor direction, but the gear looks identical to my other blendtec gear on bottom of my original jar that came with my Blendtec. Is there really a need to exchange these if I own a Blendtec and not a Vitamix?

Mine sounds a little wobbly when I run it, so I was wondering the same thing. Anybody else have that issue or do you think mine is defective?

Also, my girlfriend was using it to puree some apples and she said it didn't puree them as well as Vitamix-- maybe it's just mean for certain uses... thinking about re-selling it... :/

I don't know if this would help with your problem, but the wildside jar is a little different than the standard vitamix jar + tamper combo. It's a little annoying they didn't give any instructions in the package, but if you try adding a little water in the blender when pureeing the apples, you might find it helps blend everything smoothly. If not, the blendtecs are run a lot on programs (i.e. press this button for smoothie, this button for soup, etc.) and for the smoothie program at least, it starts slowly to get the items chopped up a little bit and then goes at full power to "liquify". If you're starting at full blast with no tamper to keep the food down, then it could be performing sub-optimally.

Just making some educated guesses as someone that has a blendtec, so if it doesn't work for you, I'm sure you can recoup your money by selling it.

Any updates on using this with a blendtec? The blade seems to spin both ways, but can anyone think of any long-term potential damage to the blender base by using this jar?

They claim it will strip out the threads on the gear on the bottom of jar. I will explain why I now think they may have been lying about that.

I called after receiving mine because of the letter I mentioned earlier. I have been getting the run around for the last week and they finally called and said they can only exchange my 3 jars for 1 wildside jar for blendtec. I told the lady I merely want to exchange the 3 rebel jars which have a higher list price than the wildside jars so I would be happy with 3 jars that have the lower list price anyway. And she said no they can't do that. Prior to that they stalled on shipping the order for over a month and even sent out emails encouraging a refund instead of waiting for the order etc.

I asked to speak to a supervisor, but while on hold I just hung up. I think these jars likely work fine with blendtec blenders and will sacrifice one of the three to see in the coming weeks if it's true or not. If it really gets destroyed as they implied it would I will report back here either way. When this first went on sale somebody called that same day and a rep said it would work with both blenders. Unless the gears are angled in a slightly different direction on the different jar styles I don't see why this wont' work.
