So this is the best of all worlds and kind of makes all us Vita-mix or Blendtec loyalists friends again. Blendtec make a Wildside jar that is compatible with the Vita-mix Blender....it usually sells for $139 and is now $19.95 with free ground shipping.

If you have an older Vita-mix and need a good cheap alternative for a new jar or want an extra jar this is a great deal and gives the advantages that Blendtec folks love with the shape of the Jar.

There is no stock counter so no idea how long this will last...and no unfortunately we can not buy this and use it with our Blendtecs! ( Customer Service just promised me it will work the same as a wild side on my Blendtec so picked up another!)

They claim it will strip out the threads on the gear on the bottom of jar. I will explain why I now think they may have been lying about that.

I called after receiving mine because of the letter I mentioned earlier. I have been getting the run around for the last week and they finally called and said they can only exchange my 3 jars for 1 wildside jar for blendtec. I told the lady I merely want to exchange the 3 rebel jars which have a higher list price than the wildside jars so I would be happy with 3 jars that have the lower list price anyway. And she said no they can't do that. Prior to that they stalled on shipping the order for over a month and even sent out emails encouraging a refund instead of waiting for the order etc.

I asked to speak to a supervisor, but while on hold I just hung up. I think these jars likely work fine with blendtec blenders and will sacrifice one of the three to see in the coming weeks if it's true or not. If it really gets destroyed as they implied it would I will report back here either way. When this first went on sale somebody called that same day and a rep said it would work with both blenders. Unless the gears are angled in a slightly different direction on the different jar styles I don't see why this wont' work.
just curious, is there any visible/noticeable difference with the wildside jar that came with your blendtech?

perhaps there's a reversed gear or something, but does blendtech sell a replacement blade for their wildside jars? if so, wonder if you'd be able to buy a replacement gear/assembly and swap it with the one on the vitamix-wildside jars and be in the clear.

if nothing else, you'd at least have a vitamix and an original blade/gear assembly in your hands to see if there were any differences.

This deal will never be coming again. A response from Blendtec:

"Hi xxxx! Thank you for your inquiry about the “promotion” on the Wildside+ Rebel jar. Just so you know, this was not a valid promotion. The special price that was advertised was an inadvertent error and the offer was retracted right away. We apologize that there is no current promotion for this jar. Our price is $129.95 plus $14.00 shipping/handling. We invite you to call us for any further assistance at 1-800-xxx-xxxx, Monday-Friday, 8am-5:30pm MST. Have a great day!

Best Regards,"

This explains why they jerked around so long shipping them.

Interesting. I compared the rebel jar threads to the blendtec wildside threads and they looked exactly the same (which makes sense since they make the vitamix owners change the socket out). I didn't take a caliper out and do any measurements, but the angles looked similar as well -- granted we are dealing with things spinning at thousands of RPM so take the eyeballed similarities with a grain of salt if the differences are actually in the bearings in the spinning blade mechanism.

The only real differences I could see were that the silkscreening on the rebel Jar was different ('rebel jar' & 'not vitamix sponsored') as well as it had more volume gradients (wildside only goes up to 1L, rebel up to 1.4L) and the rebel blade seemed a little sharper than my blendtec wildside jar (this could be due to the fact that wildside jar has seen use).

I'm inclined to agree that these jars are probably inter-changeable [someone could ask whether they can use a standard wildside jar with the blendtec drive socket on their vitamix machine], but as I'm a random internet poster, I'm not liable if something breaks!

Anybody who got extras on these want to sell one? I only bought one but would like to get another for my sisters Vitamix. I'd be forever grateful. PM me. Thanks.
