I picked up an Asus RT-AC68R Wireless 802.11AC Router at Costco yesterday in the San Diego area for $149.99 + tax.

I don't believe they are on sale, it looks like the everyday price going forward. It's not cheap, but it's better than the current price of $219 on most sites and retail stores.

Item Number is 849590
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

You got Best Buy to match? How?

*edit Nevermind

got it price matched to best buy. Give them a phone number of a costco that has this in stock. Costco will do phone orders if they are not your local costco. so that was the basis of the match. YMMV

Does your Costco carry the nighthawks? NE seems to have nothing like this.

Well...if you got it price matched at Best Buy....and you bought it...you might want to call/visit best buy for a $40 refund...because best buy on ebay and bestbuy.com had these for $119.99 this morning.

Planning on returning mine for the Netgear NightHawk AC1900 ($138)...which has better USB interface and comparable speed.

Asus DLNA/intranet is fast but internet has been "unstable" since set up..maybe a coincidence...but...who knows.
Costco carries the R7000? Do you have the item number? I haven't seen it at the two I frequent, but I'd love to find one nearby so I'm covered by their stellar return policy.

avoid the r7000...garbage...just wasted several days trying to make it work...check the forums....many many problems...the joke of a company is busy pumping out beta firmwares....of course u can throw dd-wrt on, but there's no guarantee it will work bulletproof and not have same issues as netgear's own firmware...sounds like the issues may be with hardware, in which case thousands of people are gonna be unhappy Frown

I run rt-n66r at the moment. Is it worth the hassle to sell mine and buy this one?
Yes. Dump the 66U now.

I've seen the Asus routers with R in their model # and they are refurbs remanufactured by Asus. Best buy was selling the RT-N66R for a few bucks cheaper than normal price and didn't tell anyone they are refurbs. The Best Buy web site identified them as refurbs though. Buyer beware!
Why would you "assume" that R stands for refurbished and then post of foolish post showing your ignorance by expressing your opinion as if I were fact.

In point of fact, R simply stands for retail channel, not refurbished. Costco is a high end warehouse not a down market Walmart or Sam's Club and I can assure you that even they would never sell a "refurbished" router.

People such as yourself irritate the hell out of me. You have an idea and your idea becomes a fact in your own mind so you spew out your nonsense on slickdeals.net. Blue collar individuals with little high school degrees are the worst offenders since they usually have an IQ on the left side of the bell curve or if they are lucky they perhaps have an average IQ of 100.
