The Java Grid - "Make Money" from Personal PC Cloud Computing
I wasn't entirely sure where to post this, but it seems computer related.
I was browsing Craigslist last night and saw an ad regarding this Java Grid program. It seems similar in concept to SETI at Home in that they use your home computer to crunch numbers except you supposedly get paid for the computing time. The dollar amount seems reasonable, but I was still wondering if anyone heard of it. I haven't signed up, so this isn't a referral thing. More concerned about my information.
I tried to google the site and the program, but only solid results were the website itself. No reviews or discussions on it.
They also don't seem to have any information on how you'd be paid. I suppose that might show up when you create an account, but I didn't get that far.
I kind of get that "too good to be true" vibe, but then I also have 7 computers I could throw at this thing.
Program exits fine and all processes end when I exit it. Program has listed name Entevia LLC as publisher. The program also uninstalled fine. It was making use of processing power and memory... I have no idea what it was doing and I'll have to run some programs later to see exactly what's going on.
I installed it on a computer I just refreshed. Found it to be a little confusing, and it the log in was strange. Seemed to require you to log in through an email link. Once I believe I got it set up I didn't really notice it doing anything.
Still not sure about withdrawing funds. I obviously didn't have any, and when I clicked the button to do so, it informed me as much. So I can't tell how/if that works.
Any other info from anyone else? The math seems decent for those of us with multiple spare computers.
About three hours running. Says I earned 11 cents.
So just under $6 per week. Could pay your morning coffee if you stick to the dollar menu.
after that 24hr electricity bill maybe you would be lucky if it paid for a cup of coffee each month.
You'll get crazy newbies who call 3x a day for 2 weeks straight, and post argumentative paranoia demanding the rebate is guaranteed, in writing, by certified mail, on their doorsteps, by tomorrow evening. Then all the other newbie sheep freak out, and THEY call 3x a day, for 2 weeks straight, and the paranoia explodes. And suddenly everyone's carting their paper back to the retailer demanding a refund.
All those who CALLED to confirm.... Your dad should have silently slept that night.
