PRICE STILL VALID UNTIL 2/8/14

Extra $5 off at staples : http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=65564060&postcount=28

If interested OpenWRT is supported on this router, I may just go ahead and pick up one for myself.

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/wd/n750

Basic config: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/basic.config
First login with OpenWrt: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/firstlogin
Install Luci (web interface for OpenWrt): http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto...essentials
QOS installation: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/qos

No web interface installed by default in OpenWrt "trunk" builds. Wireless is also disabled by default. Initial OpenWrt flash should be over wired ethernet.

If command line scares you or words like telnet & SSH are foreign, this is probably not the right router for you to install 3rd party firmware. There are better supported options out there for a little more (e.g. TP-Link WDR3600/4300).

I personally have this router and it is working great for now. And for only $30 is a good deal. Dont forget that now Open WRT is an option for alternative firmware

have you installed openwrt? I haven't done it on mine, command line is too much for me. Luci can be installed right? how is that?

No, this is only the router, you still need a modem.

Nope, you'd need a MOCA adapter as well.

I've been using this router for months and didn't realize a 3rd party firmware was available. I'm reading up on OpenWRT and it seems do-able, especially since I've wanted to use it as a vpn client too. We'll see!

No, this is a router.. You need a modem router combo to replace that.. Or buy a modem along with this. When searching try "adsl router"

You need both a modem, which is compatible with your Internet provider, and a router, or a modem/router combination.

The modem converts the signal sent by your provider into something understandable to your computer; the router sends this understandable information through the air to your computer.

Hope that helps. nod
