I've been shopping for this modem for more than a month. It's been $82 at newegg and amazon pretty much the whole time. While I would prefer to get a cheaper price, I'll settle for a free router instead. In for one.

Same here. I finally pulled the trigger at Best Buy (PM'd to Amazon) earlier this week. Figures! ;-)

I'd rather have a dirt cheap 6121 (which I do), do any providers use 8 downstreams yet?

If I'm only on a 15mbps plan, is there any reason to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem?

Found this old forum post that made me decide to pull the trigger. [arstechnica.com] Hopefully I can unload the router to someone for $20 or so.

As far as I know some ISP might not support DOCSIS 2.0 modem soon so 3.0 will become the standard.

I have been looking for a better plan for Xfinity internet to replace my current CenturyLink that charges me $52.99/month for 12mb down; 0.8mb up.

Not sure if I can find a better deal but I am in for 1 just in case.

Thanks for the post (I have been watching for this deal too!)

Some ppl complain the factory firmware isn't good, but if you flashed to DDWRT open source firmware should solve the issues.
