Windows RT = Fail, good for the price, but you can't do much with it. I'm avoiding this like the plague.

Wish you could load 8.1 on this. would be a killer deal to get an rt body and load 8.1.... sigh... Guess my Dell venue 8 pro will have to do Wink

We purchased these for our H.S. children. I haven't heard a complaint and I love to use it. Does everything we could possibly want and more considering it has Office on it. I would think this tablet would be perfect for the average household. It doesn't have full windows but we have laptops for that.

What is it again that RT can't do, that folks need it to do outside of what's already installed on it?

Why wouldn't you be able to load 8.1 on the Surface RT? It's a free upgrade for all devices:

top rated seller is calculated at the end of the sellers monthly cycle. It will probably have that seal removed b/c of the neg. feedback.
Agreed - their recent feedback in the past 30-45 days is a worse percentage. I also think they will have TR status removed at the end of January. I had to file a case against them over the holidays as I ordered 5 tablets and they only sent me 1. They don't respond to any messages / cases / etc.

Rt is a mobile operating system. You cannot run 8/8.1 on this.

I had one of these when they first came out and loved it. I used it in law school. I ended up selling it for a pro and actually missed the rt version because it was so much thinner and the battery lasted FOREVER. Does anyone know if these accept the new touch covers? I had an old touch cover and it was pretty hard to get used to; I hear that the new ones are much better and more responsive.

You CANNOT upgrade an RT device. Windows 8 was not made to run on a Windows RT platform.

The touch covers are terrible. Get the type covers.

I believe they meant they wish they could load Windows 8 Pro on Surface RT hardware.
