-Lower input lag (good for online shooter console games)
-Less heat
-Less power consumption
-Brighter picture (good for bright rooms), less glare
less heat?..seriously

Power consumption difference would take you 6-8 years to breakeven

Brighter picture...I will give that

The upside of the VT
Better picture in EVERY way...black levels, color accuracy, viewing at ANY angle other than dead center, motion handling ..et al

Good luck finding a Best Buy with any Panasonic plasma in stock. Even if you try and order online, you'll most likely get an error when you attempt to check out.
I would go to the store and ask them do do a locate an/or possible transfer

Online ordering of the VT is a a worthless endeavor

Plasmas are too dark IMO. Have you ever owned a high quality LED television? The picture quality is quite amazing.
yes....a full array LED with local dimming as a matter of fact...AND I still prefer my plasma TV's

That off angle viewing with the color and light changes, of LED, drives me farking crazy

If I could put a plasma ...a 50" where my full array LED is now...I would switch it out

I bought this TV on september for $2000 (from amazon), and it was nothing but impressive. Almost all visitors were amazed by the picture quality. Very clear picture and good debt to it too. When people see it they cannot understand the debt of the color, so the ignorant ones (happened once) will claim it is a glassless 3D TV Smilie. Especially, with the soap opera effect on, it is super realistic.
Same here, bought this back end of last year and still think it's a great TV and have no probs recommending it.

Picture is not better than a VT plasma by Panny, sorry.

Less heat? Yes, not much though.

Less power? Yea, I guess about $30/yr.

Less input lag? Yes, 20ms vs 40ms. Both are considered "excellent".

If you're gaming get the LCD, if sports and movies are more your thing get the plasma.
Why can't we have all of the above in a TV plus 3D? :-(

plasma = burn in. never again.

oh and it was a 55vt50. that developed yellow spots on it after 5 months, and had a news channel logo on it after watching the news for 30 mins daily, vs 4-6 hours of other programing.

thanks, i bought it last week from Buydig. I called them today asking for a PM to JR and they wouldn't PM competitors. I hope they price match their own website ($36 cheaper).

Was able to get Best Buy to PM Frys $1599 price last week. I was planning on getting the Samsung 8000 but this thing has just as good of a picture if not better. I would probably have gone with the 8000 if they were both the same price just for the extra bells and whistles, but the cheapest I could get it was $2100.

Are y'all getting Amazon to PM before you buy it or are you buying and then getting the price adjusted?
