I've been thinking about moving away from Turtle Beach and getting a pair of the A50's based on all the glowing reviews Astro has garnered. I ran across these gems on Gamestop's website so I drove to Best Buy and had them price match their competition (with no problems). Now it's off to the couch for some Battlefield…enjoy!

Probably going to get these. I wasn't real sure about spending the money but the wife and kid had food last week so they should be fine for a while.

I don't have very much use of a mic unless talking on skype or something but would these be overkill for regular use?

the wireless headsets look like I can just roam around near the pc while still listening to audio and talking if skyping

It depends what you consider regular use. These work well with skype and they have a pretty good range. I bought these from Astro for $150 through another slickdeal last year.

I have a pair of these and they are the best gaming headsets I've ever used (comparing them to Triton, Turtle Beach and Logitech). I tried the Triton AX720 and AX Pro before returning them and getting the A50's, and before that I tried Logitechs and Turtle Beach PX5's. The Astro's beat them them all. The battery last around 10 hours so I have to charge it every 2-3 days of use, but the sound quality is top notch as far as gaming goes. Also sound great with movies, but only decent with music. I also use them for watching tv in bed when the wife is sleeping and they sound great while also not having as much external noise bleed as the Tritons.

Yep it was a crazy April Fools deal from Astro and only a few people (including myself) got in on it.
