Don't be a victim of identity theft
Public Wi-Fi is typically unsecure and college students are at high risk of having their data hacked and becoming a victim of identity theft. It is critical for students who use public Wi-Fi connections at school, libraries or coffee shops to be aware of the risks and take action to protect themselves online. Although the internet is a wonderful resource, internet safety is a growing concern for everyone, especially for college students. Identity theft, malware, cyberstalking are just a few examples of internet safety concerns.
•88% of public Wi-Fi hotspots are unsecured. Using public Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet leaves you vulnerable to cyber criminals stealing your personal information such as your email passwords, your credit card numbers, or your banking information.
•24% of all identity theft victims are 18-29 years old. College students are most at risk for identity theft because they have good, clean credit scores. According to the Federal Trade Commission, about 9.9 million identity theft incidents are reported each year.
•86% of websites that you visit will track your personal information. Whether you are using the internet at home, at school or at a coffee shop, your browsing history and personal information are tracked by your Internet Service Providers, organizations, websites or worse – hackers.
•Certain online services are blocked outside of the US. When you study abroad or travel overseas, online services like Hulu, Netflix, Pandora and Spotify cannot be accessed in some countries due to complicated rights agreements.
Secure your Wi-Fi connection, browse the web privately and protect your device from malware with Hotspot Shield
With Hotspot Shield's advanced technology, all of your private data, including passwords, banking transactions and instant messages, is encrypted by a secure tunnel between your computer and our servers. This prevents cyber criminals, hackers, snoopers and Internet Service Providers from spying on your online activities and stealing your personal information. In addition, it replaces your IP address with one of our IP addresses to keep you anonymous.
Here are 4 Reasons why you should use Hotspot Shield VPN:
•Secure your Wi-Fi connection - Connecting to public Wi-Fi hotspots increase your chances of getting your identity stolen. Hotspot Shield's technology remains to keep your personal information secure and free from being in the wrong hands of a cyber criminal.
•Surf the web privately and anonymously – Whenever you connect to Hotspot Shield, your entire online browsing session is encrypted, enabling you to surf the web privately and anonymously without being tracked by your ISP, organizations, hackers or snoopers.
•Protect your computer and mobile devices from malicious malware – If you visit a site that is known to contain malware, Hotspot Shield's malware protection feature will alert you and block the site. Hotspot Shield protects your device from being infected by the 4 basic types of malware sites: trojan sites, infected sites, phishing sites, spam sites and content farms.
•Save money on mobile data plan – Tired of going over your data usage every month? With Hotspot Shield's data compression feature, you will be able to download twice the data on your Android or iPhone for the same bandwidth cost!
Hotspot Shield is available as a free VPN service (ad-supported) or a paid premium service (no ads plus get enhanced malware protection and IP selection from 3 different countries). Use Hotspot Shield to secure your public Wi-Fi connection, browse the web privately and anonymously, access blocked websites anywhere in the world and protect your computer and mobile devices from malicious malware.

AnchorFree also offer the free version with Ads.
The free version also has Virtual location that hides your real location and make it think it somewhere else in Japan, Australia, United Kingdom, and United States.
NOTE: I notice on the free version Bittorrent download didn't work. On the trial it did but don't know how long. By signing up with your .edu email they will email you an Activation link to change it to an "Elite" version that will allow Bittorrent download and hide things you are doing from your ISP and other media company's lawyers.
