Thor (first one) on Blu-Ray

Crew 568 434 January 31, 2014 at 09:07 AM More Amazon Deals
Hey guys,

I'm not looking for anything fancy. I just want to buy Thor (the first film), on blu-ray. I don't need special features, 3D, or DVD or anything, I just want the movie. If it comes with extras, that's just fine.

Amazon has the 2-disc version for $38 shipped! That's absurd! I can't find it anywhere, and the second film - The Dark World - is only $27 with Prime. Anyone have any tips?

Thanks!

There may be better deals closer to when Capt America Winter Soldier comes out in the theaters to promote it, maybe March, April... or when Thor TDW hits retail stores near end of this month..

I too was surprised at the ridiculous price of the Thor Blu-Ray. Must have gone out of print, but not sure why.

B/C Disney bought Marvel. So Marvel movies that were previously released by Paramount on blu-ray are re-issued by Disney....they love to keep their prices high and their movies in the vault...

THAT explains it. Thanks and repped.

Also explains why there's now a "newer version" available on Amazon, linked from the over-expensive page.

IMO, $30 is still too much for a movie that came out in 2011, but I'm still complaining about the price of The Incredibles, so maybe it's just me. Smilie

Hopefully there will be some kind of promo for Marvel tie-in in a few weeks, coupon, maybe movie cash for Cap America, 2 pack, buy 1 get %off or some deal... Not sure if Costco has Thor left over from Xmas time, or if they will bring it back when TDW releases. But I don't see $10 deals like we have in the past coming back. Hopefully you can get it for 15-20 though....(ty for the reps guys).

I don't think the math on the Disney Movie Club works out or I'd recommend that. I wonder if DMR will issue some kind of coupon...

The Disney [amazon.com] version is 19.99, right now... and I just searched SD to see if I should post it, and apparently someone posted this in hot deals, also same price at Best Buy. I don't see any better deals on this original almost out of print version. Not sure whythreadhas so many thumbs downs.. if you are able to do in-store at Best Buy and you received this couponfor $3 in your DMR emails or are able to get it emailed to you via the one of the user's instructions in that thread, could be sweeter.

Thanks! I'm sure typical SDers are seeing $20 for a blu-ray and automatically thumbing down.

I managed to pick up a used copy on GoHastings (finally in stock), so I'm in business now. I appreciate all your help!

Cool, I was going to suggest a used copy but I wasn't sure, some folks only want new.
