Would love Google Fiber but it is not in the neighborhood. Anyway, here's a good news for all TWC internet subscriber.

I am subscribed to Ultimate 50/5 and 3 nights ago I tried to test my internet speed using http://www.speedtest.net/ and I was surprised I was getting a consistent 112/5.6 speed (I tried different servers too). BTW, before this, I used to average 56/5.6

I still couldn't believe it that night, and the next morning I tested it again and the same result until today.

I don't know if this is a glitch or not but somehow, I found out that TWC has plans in boosting speeds up to 6 times.

Current Mbps Speeds Up to New Mbps Speeds Up to
Everyday Low Price Customers 2/1 3/1
Basic Customers 3/1 10/1
Standard Customers 15/1 50/5
Turbo Customers 20/2 100/10
Extreme Customers 30/5 200/20
Ultimate Customers 50/5 300/20

Hmm... funny, didn't get a written notice from TWC or anything (San Diego)....

So...

Download speed: 56.07 Mbps
Upload speed: 5.83 Mbps

Meh.

So... just for grins and giggles, I unplugged the modem, and then plugged it back in....

No difference. No bump.

And here you got me all excited with that talk of 300/20.... Frown

Edit: Signature Home customer. For now.

Standard subscriber and still getting 15d/1u at $34.99.

Funny since when I first became a TWC customer the Standard package was 20d/1u for $29. Now I get less speed for more money and the reliability of the internet and cable is a joke. They can stick their DVR Navigator interface up their you know what. Shows record about 50% of the time and it seems like channels go black daily with the "Channel Not Available" message. Pixelation issues and audio issues. Remote issues even with new remotes and fresh batteries. Several techs have tested signals with no trace of a problem to be found.

This is unrelated to TWC Maxx.

The ultimate tier is getting bumped to 100 Mbps.

I work at twc. The speeds were increased to 100 mpbs which is now the ultimate speed but not nationwide yet. Only in NY and LA. Twc Maxx will be released mid year which will update speeds to the speeds mentioned above

This change just came to my neighborhood in NYC - standard speed increased from 15/1 to 50/5 at no extra charge. They sent out an email notice but with no real details - I did a speedtest to find the increase.
