Hi,

Thanks to the folks here [costcocouple.com] I was able to score a this 7 piece dining set I've been watching for a while. A $200 instant rebate is offered at Costco on this set. Regular price is $789.00. I paid $589 plus tax (on $789). Some folks may not find the rebate available in all stores. Call your local store and ask for rebate and stock information on item number 810246 before visiting.

Instant rebate ENDS Thursday 2/5.

Good luck!

we bought ours almost a year ago now and we have had the same issues with the uneven chairs. the bolts that hold them together periodically come loose and you have to tighten them all up. the legs to the chairs constantly hit the legs of the table when you have the butterfly leaf folded in. getting in and out of your seat can be tight. with our three kids using it all the time it has held up pretty well so far though. they're like moving earthquakes so they tend to put furniture to the test
Just curious what the price was when you bought it last year? Also does the surface hold up pretty well. I also have young kids and they aren't very careful.

I saw the floor model(last one) in my local for $500? but they said that's the only one, so I passed. It's clearing out, but the price will be different.

I can't exactly remember but it was around $7xx something. It was over $800 when we first saw it in stock a couple years ago. The surface seems to hold up well. The legs to the table and chairs are getting scratched where they are hitting against each other but I kind of expected that to happen. I noticed a store display had some scratches all over the table top when I went in a couple weeks ago, but we don't have that kind of problem at home. I'm not really sure what someone did to it to do that. My kids do their homework on it too so there is always some kind of school project, crayons, pencils, markers, juice spilled, food spilled, the occasional random booger that no one will claim putting there...it all cleans up pretty well.

Thanks for everyone's input. I picked one up today. There were only a few left. Cashier said they were moving fast with the instant discount. I noticed on my receipt that they charged tax on the full price of 789. I thought that was weird.

Thats the problem with getting instant rebate instead of discount. They still treat $789 as sale price and charge tax on that and then apply manufacturer rebate on total price which doesn't reduce the taxable amount. Discount will actually reduce the taxable amount too.

The dining set is pretty sturdy, and my wife loves it so much. We have got it last September (or later) when it was on sale for $499. Even $589 is a very good price for this dining set.

I've been watching it since last year, it was listed at 699.99 and discounted to 499.99 which was slick deal. When I saw this a month back, Costco increased the price to 789. I was hoping they will have rebate on this. 589 is still good price. I bought it in Atlanta just now.

Another markdown at my Costco. Now $399.97!

Since we have been eyeing this since this thread started, we finally jumped on it. Thanks $400 sounds like a steal! No instant rebate or anything either.
