Note: Amazon is not an authorized reseller. [511tactical.com] You may have difficulty with warranty support.

Other 5.11 Backpacks to note:

5.11 Rush 24 Backpack [amazon.com] (Sandstone) - $83.19
5.11 Rush 72 backpack [amazon.com] - $122.18

Standard max carry-on dimensions are 22" x 14" x 9"
The Rush 24 is 20" x 12.5" x 8" (you could meet or exceed the max carry-on by packing it full).

Standard max "additional personal item" dimensions are 36" total

The Rush 12 is 35.5"... so should be perfect to max out your carry-on allowance in combination with a roll-aboard or other standard carry-on.

I just bought the Rush 24 yesterday from Quartermaster because their catalogue showed up advertising 20% off. The price I got was $113 after tax. Yesterday's Amazon price was much higher. Today, the price on Amazon is $94 and after CA tax, it is $103- $10 cheaper than Quartermaster. Thanks OP!

did you notice all the strap around the backpack? those are for holding on to narrow Magazine so you can do quick reload without stopping you and opening the backpack, that's how it get the name "rush 12"

Is the front pocket big enough to fit a small DSLR (t2i)?

I own the canon camera bag, and while it's nice I have found it cumbersome hiking. I'd also be curious on if any hikers/photographers have used this bag. Comforty+Rugged+Space seems like it might be the ticket.

Think this would work out for a Canon T4i 18-135 Lens, iPad, 13" Macbook, chargers for everything, 9mm Sig Compact + Ammo, small first aid kit?

Just a heads up, the Rush 24 (bigger pack, more organization) in the Sandstone color is also the lowest it's ever been ($83, Prime):

http://www.amazon.com/5-11-Rush-2...d_sim_sg_1

Both are good packs, but are made for slightly different purposes. My needs are usually for something a bit longer-term, so the 24 suits me better. For those looking for a daypack (or ultralighters), the 12 would be good to go.

You need to see it from the side to get a better idea, but the front pouch area of the 24 also flips down with adjustable straps, allowing you to stuff oversize items like blankets, etc in between the pouch and the main compartment when you need to. This comes in handy when I bike to the store and pick up something that won't normally fit in the pack. It's also worth mentioning that all of these packs with molle side fittings can be used in the 5.11 "Tier" system, where you basically piggyback one smaller pack directly to a larger one (with a simple clip/unclip). Google will have some good examples of this. When not using the "Tier" straps to piggyback, you can also use a single one across the bottom for lower-side pack compression to keep things tight.
