User Comment on Product: "I have this phone and completely disagree. I bought it for my 4yo son about 3 months ago, and he uses it every single day without issue. He uses it for games, movies, and music, and it has been rock solid. Sure, it's old tech with a grainy screen and slow processor, but the thing just works, and the battery lasts forever. Best $20 ever spent.
I'm not sure if the people having issues with this phone are downloading all kinds of apps that are incompatible and causing the issues, but I have not seen any issues with random reboots or locking up. My own Samsung Galaxy S3, on the other hand, has been terrible in this regard" - SquirtTortuga

User Comment on Product: I have this phone and haven't had one single issue with it freezing or rebooting. Been using it for 6 months and use it for hours each day facebooking and stuff at work. Awesome deal.(...) Battery life isn't so good though.- qhomie

RadioShack has the Kyocera event for just $14 Sunday and Monday only.

Heck of a deal for any MP3 player, nonetheless one with Wifi, android, etc.

The red one is in stock on RadioShack.com and ships free with order of $25 or more or ships free to store (must add to cart to see discount)

The black one is out of stock online and is B&M only.

Both are now OOS online, so in store only now

How to disable Hands Free Activation:

1. Root the phone.

2. Download a Root Browser.

3. Get into \system\app and rename Phone.apk, TelephonyProvider.apk, and Mms.apk by appending .bak to each.

4. Restart the phone and you should no longer see the annoying popup when it boots!

Anybody have a decent writeup on how to root one of these things? Will it only work on VM?

EDIT: Anyone have first-hand experience rooting one of these? Any tips, difficulties, etc?

I own this phone and its pretty buggy and useless. I can't wait to upgrade. I got it for $20 at BB a month ago.

some really bad reviews on ratshack about freezing/turning off etc. if you can get MetroPCS to deliver, those deals for $29 shipped are a lot better as a mp3 or android device.

Just because it's on sale doesn't make it a good buy. Not worth it even as an mp3 player.

Read that. I have a samsung Tmobile flip phone, I have a HTC touchdiamond prod US cellular, have a net 10 slide phone, but nothing from Sprint. Was talking with a guy on CL yesterday, but he hasn't replied since yesterday. Need a cheap sprint hone, just to get the deal, will find a proper phone later, and then switch the phone.. need something to kick start. I missed this deal last time, don't want to miss this time. How about the folks who got this deal last time, will they still be on 325 mins, or will it be changed to 200 mins?

Thanks OP.

I also got it at BB for $20 on black friday and my son loved the phone. At $14, this is super hot deal. hopefully I will be able to score couple tomorrow.

This is a starter phone - don't expect too much, or show me comparable phone for 14 bucks.

Try Here.

Seems there are two methods, a PC based method and standalone method using some downloaded apk's. I had the standalone method work but you have to read the entire thread as some things seems to have changes slightly over time.
