Deal Details

This was announced for March release at CES but it popped up early. The link is for the Lenovo B&N Affinity website, which requires you to log in (anyone can sign up). It is $70 cheaper compared to the regular Lenovo site, which has it for $499 after coupon, and is one of the bigger percentage discounts you will see between the two sites.

This is a good deal for those who were interested in the Asus Transformer T100 (Frontpage in December) but were put off by the 1366x768 screen - this machine has a much higher resolution, better brightness, better speakers, better SSD performance, etc. It is also 64GB which would have cost an additional $50 on the Asus anyway. It has approximately the same bezel ratios as the iPad Air (slightly larger dimensions offset by a slightly larger screen area) and its weight falls halfway between that of the the iPad 4 and the iPad Air. The keyboard is a "Lenovo AccuType" and is supposed to be good for the class as well.

Note: Office Home & Student 2013 comes pre-loaded.

The KB does not have a built in battery but it's thinner n lighter as a result. Also has JBL speakers.

copy and paste the exact link instead of going to SD referral

// owns a asus T100

these devices are jack-of-all-trades, master of none

i did buy my T100 at $399 retail, hard to say whether I would have gone for this at $30 more... (t100 goes on sale around $300-350 now though)

much better display resolution and brightness, but you get 25Whr instead of 31Whr on the asus...

my asus's battery life is around 8-9 hours (rated at 11 hours), this probably will get me 6 hours (rated at 8 hour)

Does it comes with Office? Adding to cart gives me to buy Office for extra $119.
The product description says:

What does that mean?

wonder how this compares to the HP Omni 10

I'm still kind of inclined to just wait for the Asus Transformer Duet that gives you Win8.1 AND Android

You guys are killing me. I really want a hybrid with wacom digitizer(surface pro, but not enthusiastic about battery life), but the screen and specs are really good on this device. Decisions. Decisions!

these bay trail hybrids are mostly identical for processor / ram / speed... what you can do with them is basically identical (i.e. programs, gaming, media editing)

you might just want to focus on the "extras" - eg resolution, GPS modules, extra USB port, faster eMMC storage, digitzer, better build quality/materials

the HP omni 10 doesn't come with a dockable keyboard.... so treat it more as a tablet. I prefer a "hybrid" approach - full laptop or tablet

Asus Vivotab Note 8 has a wacom digitzer, but no good dockable keyboard, and only 8" and 1280x800...

wait for cherry trail?

If we are talking about a pc running pc apps, rather than tablet apps, how is 2gb of RAM even justified.
Im not trolling, just wandering if its going to be enough.
I love the concept, even though im a mac user.

A deal on the 11" with i5 and more memory and HD space would be sweet. Also through in LTE support instead of just 3G and finally some AC supported wifi and it might be a worthy contender.

it's enough for what you need to accomplish on a small device

I can open >15 tabs in chrome without any problems, with Word open and pdf documents (on my asus T100)

you can also run Photoshop and gaming

NOTE: these processors have a hard limit of 4GB.... when x64 Windows 8.1 Connected Standby comes out, maybe we'll see a revision with 4GB ram

Whoa 1900x1200 on a 10.1in. Those icons are going to be small on the desktop. I have the Asus T100 and 1366x768 seems fine. I wouldn't want to go smaller with my aging eyes.

You can change the scaling in Windows 8 to make the icons larger on a higher resolution screen...for situations just like these.
