User's Comment on Product: "I bought this deal last time it came around ... late November I think? Got the iPad Mini Retina $299 deal. It is completely legit. Shipping was slow but only due to the massive demand. Customer service was prompt. At the time they were offering free data till the beginning of March. LTE speeds were great, no throttling... its T-mobile. Device is unlocked / international..." - jowilker

Figured this deserved a new post since they've lowered prices and also switch you over to the free 200MB plan after April.

Millenicom has reduced their prices for the 16GB Ipad Mini Retina LTE and 16GB Ipad Air LTE to $299.99 and $399.99 respectively.

They charge an activation fee of $49.99 and a $15 shipping fee

iPad Mini Retina LTE 16GB (white or black) total for $364.98
iPad Air LTE 16GB (white or black total) for $464.98

Free 6.5GB LTE, unlimited non-LTE, and unlimited non-LTE international roaming until the end of April, then they will automatically switch you over to the monthly free 200MB LTE with unlimited non-LTE, unlimited non-LTE International Internet access unless you select otherwise.

I believe they are a T-mobile MNVO, so the non-LTE is probably throttled 3g.

iPad Mini Retina LTE 16GB (white or black) total for $364.98
iPad Air LTE 16GB (white or black total) for $464.98

Are the iPads locked?
No, all iPads ship unlocked and can be used on any carrier. All iPads are GSM/CDM/LTE capable now, in a single model. You can use this iPad on Tmo, ATT, sprint, vzw, etc. It will not have non-US LTE bands but should work at 3G speeds in the 100 countries they list support on.

Do i need to cancel before getting charged?

No, it states on April 1, 2014 the promo period for 6.5GB/mo of LTE ends - and you will be automatically transitioned to the free 200MB LTE (unlimited non-LTE/international non-LTE) Obviously double check once you receive, but the terms are very clear. The 200MB then unlimited non-LTE plan is new, no one has any experience with it. The terms page says its through 2014, but the support chat staff has said its indefinite.

Is this better than the free 200MB LTE TMO plan?
Yes, this includes unlimited non-LTE both US and internationally. It is not clear what non-LTE is, if that includes 3G or is limited to very slow 2G speeds. IT IS MOST LIKELY "2G"speeds, capped at 128Kbps (16KB/sec) for both international and US after your reach the 200MB LTE in US.

What if I go over 200MB LTE?
You can't, they will turn off your LTE at 200MB and you'll be restricted to non-LTE speeds for the rest of the month. They state they do not charge overages, if you use excessively, tmobile, their provider, may discontinue your service.

The service checker says it has no service at my house
It is broken due to load, if you check tmo coverage maps for non-roaming LTE and 3G you should be good - http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage.html

These ship with tmobile branded sims.

They have been responsive to questions and there are many, many satisfied buyers from the previous 3 threads on this.

LTE support:
https://www.apple.com/ipad/LTE/
Bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,13,17,18,19,20,25,26
This includes all 4 major US cellular providers

If anyone has a screenshot of the iPad Air/iPad Mini Retina prices please post them here as many of us bought this during the last time around and are eligible for Discover Price Protection if there is a screenshot available. Thanks

Not even a deal?! I guess I'd disagree. Let me know where else you can get 1GB of free high speed data for 8.5 months with a small investment of time on the phone to pull it off...and a phone call at the end of the year to cancel it. A good point about "owning" or "not owning" the business...T-Mobile simply asked for the Tax ID of the business I work for...and then the run a check on that. Bottom line - I needed a Tax ID number, and it should probably be a business I AT LEAST work for...but may not have to own. Anybody who gets a W2 from their employer can get a Tax ID number...just not sure if it will work or not.
Not a deal if you have to have your own business and have to put in deposit.

I am not sure if the 1.2GB free deal is applicable to BYOD, because:

1. Tmo gives this deal to anyone who currently has a postpaid voice plan and buy a device from them. No mentioning of any business at all.
2. What Millinicom is offering (indirectly) is to have the same deal WITHOUT buying a device from Tmo, just bring the one you bought from Millinicom.

Is that the difference? I've been wondering if this 1.2GB things applies to BYOD. In other words, assuming there is already a voice plan, do we have to buy a discounted cellular enabled device from Tmo in order to get the deal? Otherwise it has to be business related (employed or owned)?

Does anyone know or will call to find out?

ummm i got a completely different response...
called. guy picked right up. told him about millenicom offer. no promo code asked for. he said its $20 a month for 1.2gb....minus $10 promotional credit...then minus $10 more if i have a tmobile voice plan.

then he tried to get me to switch.

edit: called back. this time just said i had a promo code. he asked if i was a millenicom customer first. he apologized for the emails send with wrong info. restated that you need a voice plan for the 1gb. signed my sim up for 200mb without issue

So if you already have a voice plan (I do) with tmo, you only need to call in and pay nothing this year to get 1.2GB/month? With Millinicom SIM? Kind of BYOD?

Hello just got off the phone with Tmoblie rep. Just to confirm the situation for everyone.

The 1.2 GB monthly for 2014 is free if you are signed up for a T-mobile post paid voice line or if you have your own business. Otherwise, it's $10 monthly. Or they will activate your 200 MB free monthly again over the phone. It could take up to 48 hours to activate.

Overall, I'm still happy with my iPad Mini Retina with cellular deal. The $299 was a great price even without any data. The free data was just a bonus and it was delivered. When I purchased the deal, only 200 MB per month was promised starting in April anyway.

The only inconvenience was waiting for 30 minutes on hold and having my cellular down for few days. Millenicom could have been more clear in their communications regarding this issue. They really should improve their communications with customers.

Just got off the phone, 1.2GB is available to me instantly.

Here is my story. We have to give Millenicom the credit.

1. The 855 number was taking too long to wait the other day so I called 611 on my phone (I am with T-mobile for years)
2. When my voice plan was verified I was asked to give the number on the sim card, so I gave them the 200MB prepaid one, hoping 1GB was going to be added on top of the 200MB
3. Once the CSR realized that the sim is prepaid, I was transferred to prepaid dept.
4. Prepaid has no tie with existing account so no deal on the 1GB data.

Maybe I should use the sim from Millenicom but I did not try.

So I went to a local dealer/agent store, trying to get the same thing

I am eligible to get the1GB at zero cost this year, but I have to pay $20 for the new SIM (have to buy a new one). I gave it up. $20 for 1GB that is going to end by next Jan? No deal for slickdealer

Fortunately the 855 line is not busy at all today. I got a guy instantly, toke about 20-30 min to transfer the number from Millenicom to my account with T-mobile (the data account was deactivated by Millenicom), I immediately have download speed of 30mb/sec at home (socal)

So 1.2GB free data is only available through Millenicom (well, they gave us the business line, maybe anyone can get it once they know the number)

One thing worth mentioning: I talked with the guy while he is working on the transfer. He said after the 1.2GB, there is throttled, 2g/3g (depending on where you are) data connection, unlimited, world wide.

I hope someone can verify / confirm that.

On another thread (nothing to do with Millenicom) someone mentioned that he has two SIM for 200mb each, called in (I guess it is regular customer service number) and got 1.2GB without question. http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=67452842&postcount=652

I don't know how he does it. For me the account has to be merged into voice plan account.

On an related note..was very happy (and surprised) to hear that, on my AT&T plan , when I switched to their mobile share plan this month to save money, they now include FREE tethering/hotspot! So when I'm over the 200mb, I can switch to using my iphone for wifi!

I have an AT&T mobile share 10GB plan, so I called in yesterday to add this iPad for $10/mo. Since I use my work discount, they waived the activation fee. The SIM of course didn't fit AT&T's format, but they offered to send me one (also free) and since they said I was a good customer it was overnighted for delivery today. Also, a current promotion gives me a $100 statement credit for adding a line once this is live for 45 days, so it works out to about 10 months free use for adding this to my shared plan. Hope this helps someone like me who doesn't have a t-mobile voice account and wants more than 200MB/month.

Though, depending on the phone you have with AT&T, you could have used IT as a hotspot and saved $10 a month.

I have enough draining the battery on my phone, and use my iPad frequently away from my phone.

If you recently switched your millenicom account to T-mobile account to take advantage of the 1GB data deal (totally 1.2GB/month), you'd better take a look at your t-mobile account.

I just noticed I was charged $200(one time) migration fee. Called CSR to have it removed, but I guess you have to make the call to make it happen.
