I disagree Laptops are the best mobile productivity tool.

Perhaps they aren't new and hip. But NO NEED for a dock...no need for attachments , LOTS of HD space, Lots of ram, True SSD
I will always prefer a laptop over a Tablet.
I agree, if you're doing anything other than playing games or consuming content, best option is a laptop with a high res ips touchscreen...on screen keyboards and wobbly docks are annoying.

This one or the Staples Asus Transformer T100?

Any opinions?

The 3770 theory sounds reasonable to me.

Either way, IMO basically your option is 64GB T100 or wait at this point. Unless you want the high res screen, then you're making the trade off for no locking dock/low memory (HP) or 50%+ higher cost (Dell). Will be interesting to see what Cherry Trail does to the price of these devices and where Cherry Trail pricing comes in at.
I don't know why all the companies are dragging their feet getting their Bay products out there. The full size Lenovo Miix just came out. I think Cherry is expected late Q3 early Q4.

wow pretty much described everything i think... i also bought the venue pro 8 64 gb for 250 at microcenter and i am on the lookout for a sale on the 11. I love it has a full usb port on it and decent accessories. I think the venue11 is best full sized baytrail tablet but 449-500 is too much for this. I bought my venue with my amex so hopefully within 90 days a sale will pop up to return my tablet back to Amex and pick up the 11..with 64gb of course.
I figure the Venue 8 Pro will be a easy $150 flip on ebay. But yes the Venue 11 is worth $350-400 max. I'm VERY happy with the Venue 8 tho. Definitely would buy it again. Though I think Cherry will be here sooner than we expect. I'm fairly certain Intel is giving manufacturers these chips or Microsoft is paying for them to get W8 in your hands instead of Android. Market is about to be floooooded.

This isn't too unreasonable though So you have 10-12GB free on a 32GB device. A 16GB iPad will net you around 13GB of free space.

The issue is with the 64GB versions -- Android / iOS 64GB have around 56GB free where Windows tablets have only around 35GB free
The problem is after a year or so of windows/office updates, that 10-12GB will be mostly, if not entirely, gone. Windows updates aren't as space-efficient as Android/iOS. Not sure if you guys remember when manufacturers were putting out PCs with 20GB primary partitions...it was a mess.

This tablet has an awesome screen. Very good price IMHO. tu

The ones wanting more than 32GB storage will be the first ones to complain if its priced higher. You can't please everyone.

Microsoft/Intel should outright ban any winpc these days with 32gb of storage. In the long run, this will just piss off people when they realize they barely have enough space to install anything on it.

It not the price, you cant replace a emmc, its soldered on. It has no sd slot. It has no full size usb slot. There is zero ways to upgrade the storage of this non tablet os.

with the massive 10-12 gigs people can get with just office and seriously tweaked, you can put what, 2 movies and a modern pc game on it before you are full?

I received a venue 8 pro 64 GB for 166 shipped which was a great price. 32gb on windows machines is crippling yourself though. Unless all you're planning to do is steam Netflix and YouTube this is a no go, you'll be better served with an android device for the above uses. On Android and IOS 32GB is fine

Best thing I ever did was get the surface pro for 500 last month, you literally forget about every other tablet out there. I haven't had he urge to get a android or ipad ever since I got the surface. Best advice I would say is to save up for a surface pro when it goes on sale again and just get it and not deal with all the headaches of these bs atom tabs that all suck one way or another.

I have 2 desktops, a laptop, a windows tablet w/ keyboard dock, a 7" android tablet, and a phone. Excessive...absolutely. I agree with your sentiment though. For productivity, I use my desktops and laptop the most.

This thing has a microSD card slot and you can install x86 programs to the card so I don't really get the big fuss over the 32GB built in. The placement of the microUSB port however........wtf?
