Careful with credit card gift card (like Vanilla Visa Gift Card). PIA can't process gift credit cards reliably.

Here are some alternative VPN services that have large selection of servers (worldwide)proxy.sh is $5 month

Setting up BT software Vuze (used to be call Azureus) to only use VPN connection (won't connect if VPN connection not available.)
Here is a tutorial of it.
http://wiki.hidemyass.com/Tutoria...hrough_VPN
Here's a tutorial for utorrent: http://wiki.hidemyass.com/Tutoria...IP_binding
(Remember to un-check make new firewall rule in utorrent settings/prefs)

uTorrent step-by-step instructions [lifehacker.com]

Enter the interface identifier into the field next to "Bind to local IP address or interface" in the settings.
Note that the interface identifier is named different on every system, so make sure to check how exactly it is called on yours.
In their example, it is "eth15" for OpenVPN, "net2" for PPTP" and "net1" for L2TP.

Make sure the checkbox next to "Enforce IP bindings even when interfaces are not available" is checked;
otherwise it can happen that Vuze keeps downloading without using the VPN.

If the Vuze setup is done correctly, it will ONLY use your VPN connection. If you didn't login to your VPN service, Vuze won't work.

In the wiki there are a couple of links about uTorrent. Are those necessary to use uTorrent with this proxy? Or only to make it that if the VPN isn't up it won't download? TIA!

As I understand it, the proxy is purely an option for users who do not want encryption, but do want to hide their IP. That said, you can use either one or both together. To use the Proxy you must generate a separate username and password from the login in the client support page [privateinternetaccess.com].

I missed this. Is it possible for my twin brother and I to share an account without setting up a VPN to access it through the same login? Wink
Of course. Each account can have 5 active connections. So you two can share 5 PIA VPN connections simultaneously. You don't have to live together sharing the same internet. Your brother can have a PIA VPN running at home, you can have another running from the cofffee shop on the corner or on the other side of the planet. Each account is in essence 5 single connection accounts.

No. You can use the proxy with anything from a web browser to have your entire machine route it's internet connection through it. That wiki is FYI only. Using a proxy is actually quite simple. Basically IP address and port number and if needed a login.

I did try the troubleshooter, and it didn't work- just said there was an error communicating with the modem. I also didn't have Internet Kill Switch selected.
This exact thing happened to me!! Can you please tell me how you uninstalled it? The only thing that shows up in "programs and features" is pia support files. Uninstalling that does nothing to fix the problem. I'm running Windows 7 btw. Could really use so help, a little stressed.

I did some research and it DOES support dd-wrt and router setup. So you can avoid the software at home for mostly home users. Smilie
But in that case all the network goes through their von server... how about banking transactions ?? I don't want to know my logon credentials...

Everyone in this thread encouraging the illegal use of this service, and describing in minute detail how to circumvent computer security and data protection measures implemented by providers, are basically criminally liable for aiding and abetting fraudulent activity and you can (and hopefully will) be prosecuted and punished by severe jail time. I don't care what country you live in - stealing is stealing. I'm surprised the system administrator for Slickdeals is allowing this type of service to advertised and discussed as they are also criminally liable for fostering an environment that encourages illegal behaviour.

Thanks for the laugh man. Pure comedy. It would be scary if anyone actually believed that. As a joke though it is hilarious!

This is my first VPN and I've had it for a few weeks. Connection seems to fail once in a while so I have to reselect another server. I have no idea if this is par for the course or not. I am in VA and my geographically close choices are East, Midwest, Florida, Texas - those are the closest for me and I'm wondering if I could do better with another VPN service.

I've heard they run the 20% off special several times a year, around holidays. I'm so curious when the next opportunity will be.
