Good deal if you have use for the gift card. Unfortunately this set's version of smart hub doesn't have Amazon prime, so I'll pass. Still thumbs up.

It doesn't look like Amazon sells it directly

Pretty sure because it is LED back-lit instead of edge-lit, giving it superior picture quality with local dimming, but at the cost of the unit's depth.

I'd rather have a non-smart tv with the smaller bezel (the clear one - I think it's a 7000 series?). The built in tv's even if they have Amazon, maybe next year it's Apple streaming or Sony streaming etc.

I'd rather purchase a small box like a roku that can be easily swapped out next year. They ought to just come up with a card like interface that I can slide a new "android" type computer into.

Something like a PCMCIA card slot used to be. Once slid into the tv you would access that card for all your stuff. You could buy an Android card, an IOS card, a Windows 8RT card etc.

This is still a very nice deal. $1048 is the cheapest price I see online right now and add i a $300 gift card makes it even slicker!

Full-array LED backlit instead of just edge-lit. I have the 46in version of this TV and the picture quality is great as well as ability to tweak a lot of picture settings. It is a bit lacking in features, but I have lots of other options like Chromecast, Roku, Ceton extender, PS3, x360, etc for those features.

Awesome, I was always thinking about the modern TV's in the same line, with the addition of PCMCIA type card it will give the ability for the TV to Pause and replay like DVR and an slot for SSD (so that whoever interested in small storage for the DVR functionality can add the SSD which should not increase the price of the TV very much as they are only providing the mechanism for the card and SSD slot) This will give a complete solution for someone with basic HTPC needs with apps and very efficient browser... hopefully someday...
