I have an RT-N16 and the USB is nice for a printer but terrible for NAS. A Pogoplug does a much better job and are fairly inexpensive. I got an E02 model for I think $15. With it the limiting speed for my NAS is the Pogoplug's USB 2.0 port for wired connections and my 300Mbps 802.11n for wireless (though it comes close to matching speeds). If I had a router with 100M wired ports, that would become the limiting factor, instead, for both wired and wireless connections, slowing it down from ~22 (wired) or ~18 (wireless) MBps to 12.5 MBps.
Went looking for one of these based on reading this article. I got PoE Actiontec adapters and am not loving the transfers I'm getting, so am thinking abotu setting this up as a bridge to my R7000 Nighthawk.
