Honestly, you won't notice a difference between them.

If only i can connect this to my Ps4 controller and get the 7.1 surround sound ;Frown(
These work with ps4 and xbone. Just plug it into the USB port on the console. It has a veerrry long cable.

I had a pair of these. The sound was fine, the earcup material is athletic material, it's different, but not bad different really. The top headband gets painful after a while unless you have a watermelon head. I hated the audio control unit the most because it was so easy for the wiring to loosen up. But for this price, it's like the best value ever. Software wasn't horrible either, and you probably already have it if you have an Logitech gaming hardware. Just remember that if you buy these and have to RMA them to logitech for any reason, keep the receipt.

Wow! I just got this from an Amazon Deal of the Day for USD 45 last month.

I would suggest getting these because they are comfortable, blue, sound good, and the microphone is pretty good and adjustable. The cushions are removable and washable. The cord is extra long and braided blue as well.

They will not work in a PS3 in terms of game audio (I am sure they work as a chat device though).

They work in the PS4 for game sound and chat. However the loudness for the PS4 is on the low side.

All in all, good cans for the PC. There are quite a few reviews of them on youtube as well.

I wonder how these will sound plugged into my Astro mixamp. Somebody ganked my A40s 2 months ago. Regardless, I bought these. Thanks OP!

I've always found Logitech headphones to be pretty uncomfortable. How are these?
I bought these headphones when they were FP for $45. I returned them because I thought they were extremely uncomfortable. After just 10 minutes of use, I would get a headache because the padding on the bridge of the headphones is very narrow (maybe 1.5 to 2cm), so it exerts a lot of pressure on the top of your skull. This was a deal breaker, as gaming headphones must be comfortable for long sessions.

The other major drawback is that you only get simulated 7.1 sound if you use their USB sound card, which is pretty low quality. So you either choose to have decent sound quality without surround by plugging into your PC sound card directly, or you get surround but lower quality by using the usb sound card.

all headphones do simulated 7.1 sound, there is no real 7.1 for headphones

The Tiamat has 5 drivers per ear.

I was not lamenting the fact that it is simulated surround vs actual. I was complaining that their surround emulating software requires you to use their USB sound card, which sounds significantly worse than onboard audio. They should have designed the software to work with your built in sound card.

Overall, that is a minor gripe. The main problem is that these headphones can be very uncomfortable due to the poorly designed head band padding.

Wow these issues are troubling... I really hope this doesn't happen for me since it's a gaming headset and that's what I was planning to use it for...

If you weren't planning on getting the mix amp with the Astro A40s, these have better default sound. The Astro headsets without mix amp are only capable of stereo sound.
i was under the impression that you could get digital 7.1 sound without the mixamp and the mixamp was required for consoles.
