Thank you kowyzo0moo, this deal is now confirmed and no longer YMMV wave

OP, I wanted to say thank you very much. A nice lady named Beth (Corporate Sales) confirmed that there was an intention differentiation between the Macbook and iMac promos. She said to specifically go to the Customer Service desk to do the purchase instead of regular sales line. I went to the Signal Hill store today, did just that. The rep had to read through the entire agreement and I told her that I spoke to a corporate rep that noted the difference between the Macbook and iMac promo, that it should scan and if she had issues to call customer service. She did it no problems.
.

NOTE: When trying to price match Microcenter's 1399 Price, the College Deal Coupon code WILL NOT WORK in the system without manager override. Shouldn't stop you from trying though Wink

Apple(R) - Open Box - MacBook Air(R) - 11.6" Display - 4GB Memory - 128GB Flash Storage Model: MD711LL/A $682 + Tax

Apple(R) - Open Box - MacBook Air(R) - 13.3" Display - 4GB Memory - 128GB Flash Storage Model: MD760LL/A $729 + Tax

So, I have been hunting everywhere from Cowboom to BH, Apple Refurbs, Microcenter and Best Buy and I've come to peace with myself knowing I found one of the best deals anywhere for this model.

MacBook Pro Retina 13.3" 8GB 256GB ME865LL/A

I originally purchased from CowBoom for $1094 + tax
http://www.cowboom.com/product/1465601

However, I KNEW it would not come as purchased. They appended 8gb 256gb after the ME864LL/A Model and surely enough, sent me the 4gb 128gb model. I issued an RMA with them, however I took the Best Buy College Deals to a *local* (not so local) best buy and swung away with getting an Open Box $1305 to stack with the College Deal

If they give hassle about the coupon code, it scans 100%.
NOTE: Price matching Microcenter's 1399 Price + College Deal Coupon code WILL NOT WORK in the system, however with ease on Open Boxes.

Total came out to be 1155.xx before tax

Two Confirmed locations in OC that accept the coupon:
Cerritos
Pasadena

There is 1 left in Pasadena and One in Irvine at the $1305 price as of 2-26-14

Attached is the print out of my Receipt.

NOTE: This is the first couple lines of the coupon.

MacBook: Markdowns taken from sale prices. Excludes Clearance & More and Market place items, special order and clearance items.

iMac: Markdowns taken from sale prices. Excludes Clearance & More and Market place items, special order, clearance, demo and open-box items.

So you're saying that you can use the college coupon on open box stuff? But obviously the stock of open box items vary location to location?

Condition was BRAND NEW... Omg,, it only had 2 battery cycles after I booted it up..

I chose between two that they had available, which they both looked BRAND new, however the one I ended up getting had neater packaged accessories, so it seemed more brand new. The box was in tip top shape as well, and Applecare had not even been initiated.

Hmmmm I really thought that this coupon didn't work on open box! Weird.
I bought an open box 13" retina (base model unfortunately with 4gb ram BUT it's the newest version) that was effectively brand new for $1,015. Pretty good deal but damn with this coupon that would've been amazing.

I am really wanting 15" retina but haven't had luck finding a deal.

I think you should try to see if it could get price matched, I know it was a pain cause I got settled with my base model already, ONE day that i've had it... But, hey 150 is 150 right?

If anything, I'm sure you could find a slick 15" retina using this coupon code for about another 500 if you have that kind of money laying around, since it doesn't expire until 4/14 I believe.

I didn't see the prices dropping too drastically within a few weeks so I decided to bite the first available $1305 i could find, even if it costed me 35 miles in heavy 57 fwy traffic look around

You're saying I should try and price match on this macbook? Even though it's been more than 30 days I think? I think it's been around a month but probably a bit more.

Doesn't hurt to try Stick Out Tongue but you're right... They'd probably not honor it since it's been pretty long and you'd seem like a cheapskate.. But hey, we're all slickdealers here LMAO

I'm also curious, the coupon says "excludes Clearance & More " items...doesn't the "and more" part probably refer to open box?

Best Buy open box computers can be a fantastic deal. I'm actually typing on a Toshiba Satellite I got at BB open box for $217 a few months ago...however before purchasing, especially an open box Macbook for $1150, you should ask about the warranty status given it's open box. If memory serves correct, some manufacturers' warranties are voided on open box items, so I would definitely look into Apple's terms before making such a large investment, especially if you won't be purchasing an Apple care protection plan for it.

* I'm not trolling this deal, just wanted to provide a heads up...Apple may very well honor the 1 year warranty on open box items, however it would be prudent to make sure, and to get specifics on when the warranty started if it wasn't voided (I.E. perhaps from the original sale date/opened date, not your purchase date)

Actually.. you're right, i'm not sure!!

iMac specifically says does not include open box, but MacBook coupon code doesn't is valid grounds for an confrontation argument Big Grin

Just purchased an air the other day. Think I'll be able to get the 150 off if I return back with it?
