FYI: these cards won't work with iPad - they are TMO SIM CARD ACTIVATION KIT - they are for phones only.
For iPad you'll need - T-MobileĀ® Data SIM Starter Kit

I spent few days and tens of calls to find it out and got 2 cards for phones until they sent me the correct one - T-Mobile Data SIM Starter Kit.

Look at this page - http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.co...prepaidSIM

The top button - for the phone - is what they are giving for free now, the bottom button - for tablets - that's what you need for iPads - Data starter kit / Mobile Internet Sim Only Kit

At least form my personal experience***, with these cards when you put them into ipad, they do offer to activate your tablet but in the next step they keep asking for an active tmobile phone, even if you try to create a new account. I couldn't bypass that step.
With a data sim card it just offers you to register your tablet, you agree, put some info and done - next page states that now you have 200mb for life for free.

***forgot to add - I'm not a tmobile customer, so I just don't have an active TM number. maybe if you are it's different...

Sweet, got one of each size. Can't go wrong for free! You do need to have a credit or debit card even though it's $0.00.

@vtscrogers Yes it will work for iPads. Just get the right sized sim card.

Sweet! Looks like the microSIMs are CombiSIMS now (pops out of regular sized sim cards). Have been needing adapters for a while now. Grabbed two of those and a nano for an iPad. bounce

I'm using a TMobile SIM in my AT&T iPad 3. I never used my iPad on AT&T, so I guess it's unlocked? I bought a SIM and activated over the TMobile site for the $30/mo 100 minutes talk and Unlimited Data plan. Working fantastic!

I think the first 5GB is at 4G speeds, but I don't think I ver go over 2.5-3GB a month. I have about a 4 1/2 hour commute each day, I'm lucky enough to have about 80% coverage on my route, compared to 50% with AT&T. I was paying $30 a month for the 2.5 and refilling if I went over.

I activated using https://www.t-mobile.com/shop/pla...Codes.aspx, picked the $30 Unlimited Data/100 minute talk plan.

Nice. Already had a couple from the last time this happened. Grabbed 1 of each. You never know when these might come in handy - I have had one go out on me, and they wanted to charge me to give me a new one (talked them out of it, but still). If I have my own, then that'll make life much easier should it happen again.

Two things.
1.) All iPads are unlocked. They have never been network locked, and I don't think ever have been. Been more of a network band issue with the older 3G iPads on Verizon/Sprint.

2.) And you seriously got the $30 5GB plan working in your iPad? Really? It's not supposed to work on tablets as it detects them based on IMEI. Did you just recently do this?

I ALWAYS have the same problem. No matter which card I use (Visa, AMEX, ...)

Are these ONLY good for prepaid accounts or will these work for post-paid accounts as well?
