I didn't see any posts for this so I'm putting this out there. The Nike store has the 2013 20XI and 20XI-X golf balls on clearance dropping the price from $29 to $14.97. Use the coupon code BESTINGAME (good until 3/6) at checkout for an additional %20 off bringing the price of one dozen down to $11.97. You'll have to pay tax; but, Nike offers free shipping for orders over $75.

Great time to stock up for the season and get free shipping if you game these balls. Hope this helps the golfers out there.

Nonsense.

The physics of golf balls is TIGHTLY controlled by the USGA. They can only come off a clubface at a controlled velocity and after that the rest is ballistics. They're all the same size, all the same weight and all have the same initial velocity, period, They CANNOT deviate in any of those areas. Any marginal distance advantage one ball has over another is an illusion created by the conditions of the test. A ball that spins slightly more will perform better downwind and one that spins less will perform better into the win. One that flies a little higher will gain distance when the air is warm and the ground is soft so that carry is the biggest factor and balls that fly a little lower will shine when the air is cold and the ground is hard and roll is magnified. Any test of 10 different balls will produce 10 different "winners" if conducted 10 times under slightly different conditions where the launch angle and spin rate is changed minutely.
At the end of the day if distance is your only concern you're probably not a very good golfer.

Everything is a trade-off and even if you truly did hit the RBZ urethane longer than anything else, it would only be under a VERY narrow set of circumstances where the wind, temperature, humidity and fairway firmness favored that ball. Turn around and play a hole in the opposite direction so that the wind was reversed and some other ball would be the longest for you.

And BTW, the RBZ urethane doesn't exist anymore. Taylormade changed their ball line for 2014, redid the Lethal to rename it the "Tour Preferred" and *slightly* altered the RBZ Urethane and renamed it the Project (a).

Interesting. I admit I was always skeptical about the ads, but the RBZ Urethane just feels great, and it sorta always leaps off the face a lot better and somehow has a more penerating flight..

Can you share a source, where a test has concluded that all golf balls have equal performance(distance) when they conform to USGA specs.

Thanks

i use pro v, and i am a scratch golfer. i don't like the feel of the nike balls, so i don't use it. its all preference. this is at a cheap price and makes a great gift. i bought it for my hacker friends, they feel good when they have a nice ball. not at my level, but i will throw him a bone.
troll?

looks like your a thread crapper buddy Wink

spend some more time on the range then thread crapping and one day you may play to my level kid. worship

Here's a fairly rudimentary set of conditions showing that for the same swing speed ad launch angle, a simple change of spin rate makes a difference:

http://wishongolf.com/clubmakers/...-software/

The important thing to remember is that there's no such thing as a free lunch. Any change to one parameter of a golf ball changes everything else. Nothing makes the ball go father all the time. Simple physics shows that pretty readily, to make a ball go farther downwind you make it fly higher to stay in the air longer. That however makes it go shorter when hit into the wind because the wind is having a greater negative impact than one flying lower and staying in the air less time. A ball that spins a lot hurts fast swingers because it balloons into the air too high to get the right trajectory, but it helps slower swingers because it helps the ball stay in the air longer and at slower swing speeds carry is more important than roll. Same with launch angles, a ball that launches ideally at 100mph swing speed would launch too high at 110mph and cost that player distance while simultaneously it would launch too low at 90mph swing speed and cost that player distance. It's the Goldilocks effect, "just right" for a specific swing speed and launch angle is completely wrong for another. Just right into the wind is too low downwind. Just right on 45* days is wrong on 90* days. Perfect for Denver is wrong for sea level because the air density changes ball flight.

Really, don't worry about it because the differences are pretty tiny. Say you conduct they test at 100mph with a 9.5* driver and a positive launch angle of 4* to get an effective launch of 13.5*. Maybe Ball A goes 250 on the beak, Ball B would go 248.7 and Ball C might go 251.6. YAY, ball C is longest!! But redo the test at 102 MPH with a 10.5* driver and 5* launch angle to yield an effective launch of 15.5* maybe Ball A goes 257.8, Ball B 257.1 and Ball C 256.2. Tiny change and Ball C is suddenly the shortest. That's how it works and that's how narrow the margins are. EVERY ball company claims to have the longest ball because they do. They control the test parameters and just jigger the variables around, run the test 100 times 100 ways and publish the results where their own ball comes out on top. For most players the differences are too small to be noticeable, it's at most a couple of yards under the absolutely perfect conditions and that's inside the margin of error of mishits, swing differences and gusts of wind.

The one fundamental truth is that the vast majority of players should be playing balls that spin less than pro line balls. A ball labeled "control" will usually spin more and one labeled "distance" will spin less. The average player will be better served by using one that spins less, but NOT because it hits the ball marginally farther. The spin that allows a pro to "control" a ball is completely wrong for a poorer player. The increased spin makes the slices and hooks veer even further offline. The less a ball spins the straighter it goes and that benefits most players.

A little feedback on this ball for those that haven't bought yet: The outer layer of this ball might be the thinnest and least resilient of any ball I've ever played. It's a nice enough ball in terms of control and distance but I found myself pulling a new one every 3-4 holes as after 2-3 hits with a short iron/wedge the ball was scuffed as if it had spent its whole day on a cart path. At $12 a dozen it's a pretty good deal but I still wouldn't buy as they literally last 1/3 as long as a comparable ball from any of their competition.
Having used about 5 dozen of these balls, I can vouch for this as well. The outer layer is very soft. It gets scuffed very easily. I think it is similar to the TaylorMade Lethal in terms of softness and getting scuffed.

I used to hit Pro V1 only. I switched to the Nike 20XI because I can definitely feel these balls better. These are noticeably softer. I love chipping & putting with these.

Cant speak for all but for myself I lose 1 ball a round and on top of that I never play with a used ball after a complete round. Too many scuffs and marks on the ball. So lets just say 2 balls a round.

If you play 30-40 rounds a year thats 60 balls. Thats 5 boxes a year.

Also lets take it further one more step.
Do I wait and take a chance to buy 5 more boxes next year at 30 a dozen or just buy 10 now and not buy any for next year?

I just made a comment to a golfing buddy a few weeks ago about how I've never found one of these balls in the woods and never seen them in the bins at the local pawn shop. This MUST mean they fly incredibly straight, right? laugh out loud. In any case, I'm buying some just so I can try them out.
